Organovo says a three-dimensional sample of living human liver tissue created with its bio-printing technology was used successfully to predict that a pre-clinical drug candidate would have a toxic effect on the liver.

Investigators from Tufts University have developed and grown complex 3-D brainlike tissue from rats, keeping it alive in a laboratory setting for two months.
