When signing to a major it has a bigger benefit, and a better chance to be a big artist. Independent labels do have their pros but the fastest chance is through a major label. An advantage the major labels have over indie labels would be funds. Major labels tend to get criticized whether they are in it for the money or love of music. Some people feel the major labels are trying to use your creativity to make a profit.

The flip side of this is that you have to pay for everything yourself until your music takes off making you millions.

Depending on what you want to do, like becoming a star real quickly might be the route to work under a label but if you want to get the most money for your songs then working as an Independent Recording Artist would be the way to go!!!

Major issue is ownership! You will get the money to record your song and then pay them back later is fine but after you pay them back they still have ownership of something you created and thats not cool because you created it.
