Agencies Combat Ad Tech Chaos

Agencies Combat Ad Tech Chaos | Real Time Ad Marketplace | Scoop.it

The explosion of technology firms serving the media world puts the pressure on agencies to separate the winners from the losers.  "My biggest problem is none of these companies were designed to solve problems for Allstate and State Farm,” he said. “Their intention is to pump as much media through them as possible and get sold. The Big Data Fallacy And Why We Need To Collect Even Bigger Data | TechCrunch

The Big Data Fallacy And Why We Need To Collect Even Bigger Data | TechCrunch | Real Time Ad Marketplace | Scoop.it

The value of any data is only as valuable as the information and insights we can extract from it. It is the information and insights that will help us make better decisions and give us a competitive edge. The promise of big data is that one could glean lots of information and gain many valuable insights. However, people often don’t realize that data and information are not the same. Even if you are able to extract information from your big data, not all of it will be insightful and valuable.

Harvard Business Review: Data Scientist: The Sexiest Job of the 21st Century

Harvard Business Review: Data Scientist: The Sexiest Job of the 21st Century | Real Time Ad Marketplace | Scoop.it

Jonathan Goldman is a good example of a new key player in organizations: the “data scientist.” It’s a high-ranking professional with the training and curiosity to make discoveries in the world of big data. The title has been around for only a few years. (It was coined in 2008 by one of us, D.J. Patil, and Jeff Hammerbacher, then the respective leads of data and analytics efforts at LinkedIn and Facebook.) But thousands of data scientists are already working at both start-ups and well-established companies.

‘It’s a Mess.’ Stuart Colman, Former MD Europe, VP International of AudienceScience, Discusses the Current State of Data-Driven Display | ExchangeWire.com | Real Time Ad Marketplace | Scoop.it

Stuart Colman is founder of Colman Media Consultancy and former Managing Director Europe, VP International of AudienceScience.  Here is the best line in the article "Agencies, For the love of God, PLEASE try and do something original and add value! Setting up a trading desk powered by Invite (or any of the myriad DSPs out there), and buying the same 3rd party data as every other agency trading desk, is not clever. It offers nothing original, adds no real additional value to clients and some would argue that, in many cases, it is killing off the industry."  It's a great read!
