This site allows students to create their own book. Students can create topics related to a subject, expressing their ideas, likes and dislikes. They could create a cookbook with recipes, record results from a survey or write a fiction or non-fiction book. With free design tools, clipart, libraries, frames and backgrounds, this is a great assessment tool for students to be creative with design.

A concept map is a visual organizer that can enrich students' understanding of a new concept. Using a graphic organizer, students think about the concept in several ways. Most concept map organizers engage students in answering questions such as, "What is it? What is it like? What are some examples?" Concept maps deepen understanding and comprehension.

This resource allows students the opportunity to create their very own story. This program is at a very basic level however it incorporates comprehension skills including understanding that a story has a beginning, middle and ending. They get to create settings, characters, names, problems, interest as well as using their spelling and reading skills once the story is complete. Students obtain a sense of satisfaction on the completion of their story. Storytelling is another  form of visual text that students gain an understanding for.
