(It is theoretically feasible to create pale blue just by heating, but this demands impracticably higher temperatures. It is not achievable to heat one thing to &quotgreen hot&quot or &quotpurple hot&quot.) It is believed that from about 1830 in Italy metal salts have been introduced to make a wider, richer hued, spectrum of colours by chemical luminescence. This strategy can be problematic, as it can be tough to develop stable, sensible, chemical compositions. It has been recommended that some shades of green are still challenging to accomplish.

The Hagen Open-air Museum (LWL-Freilichtmuseum Hagen – Westfälisches Landesmuseum für Handwerk und Technik English: &quotLWL Open-air Museum Hagen – Westphalian State Museum for Craft and Technics&quot) is a museum at Hagen in the southeastern Ruhr location, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was founded, together with the Detmold Open-air Museum, in 1960, and was first opened to the public in the early 1970s. The museum is run by the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL, regional authority for Westphalia and Lippe within North Rhine-Westphalia). It lies in the Hagen neighbourhood of Selbecke south of Eilpe in the Mäckingerbach valley.

The open-air museum brings a bit of skilled-trade history into the present, and it requires a hands-on strategy. He spent half his salary going to the gulf and hiring a fisherman to take him to the oil spill. Much more than 700 repurposed fishing boats had been deployed to clean up the slick, but only 3 per cent of the oil was collected.
It then dawned on him that since the robot he was creating at MIT was patented, it could only be created by one business, which would take a long time, and it would be so high-priced that it could only be utilised in wealthy nations.
This realisation created Harada quit his “dream job” to develop an alternative oil-cleaning technologies: anything low cost, fast and open-source, so it could be freely used, modified and distributed by anyone, as long as they shared their improvements with the neighborhood.

Hong Kong has not been spared, either. Harada joins beach clean-ups on Lamma Island and says even months soon after an oil spill and government clean-up last year, they found crabs whose lungs had been complete of oil. He says locals fish and swim in the water and there are mussels on the seabed that are still covered in oil.
“The dilemma is as big as the ocean,” Harada says. But he believes if man created the difficulty, man can remedy it. The son of Japanese sculptor Tetsuo Harada, he grew up in Paris and Saint Malo and studied product and interactive design in France and at the Royal College of Art in London.
But he believes that at an sophisticated level, art and science grow to be indistinguishable.

Celebrate West Virginia’s Prime Exporters

Governor recognizes 37 West Virginia exporters,

announces STEP grant funding

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (August 24, 2016) – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, along with West Virginia Department of Commerce Secretary Keith Burdette, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, awarded the International Industry Entry Award to 37 companies from across the Mountain State. These awards honor West Virginia organizations that successfully exported to a new country. In 2015, West Virginia companies exported much more than .8 billion in items to much more than 140 nations.

During the award presentation, Gov. Tomblin also announced that West Virginia has been once once more chosen by the U.S. Small Enterprise Administration to get funding via the State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) grant initiative. These funds will help the West Virginia Improvement Office’s export assistance system to support little firms offset the charges of international enterprise.

&quotToday we celebrate West Virginia companies that have established our state can compete effectively in the worldwide market place. Exports are a important tool for economic development,&quot Gov. Tomblin mentioned. &quotThese companies are an asset to our state as we continue to develop our company landscape and diversify West Virginia’s economy. I always appear forward to this opportunity to recognize their successes.&quot

The Governor’s Commendation for International Marketplace Entry Awards honor companies that have effectively exported to a new country in the preceding year. Each firm receives a framed piece of currency from each new country to which the enterprise began exporting. The presentation is primarily based on the tradition of displaying the initial dollar a organization earns.

Companies receiving the Governor’s Commendation for the first time this year are Probe America in Beckley, Mountain State Hardwoods in Bancroft, and Mountaineer Brand in Shepherdstown. In a special presentation, Wheeling Truck Center received its 100th export award. Considering that making their very first export sale in 2010, the company has exported to more than one hundred countries.

The West Virginia Development Office International Division helps little- to medium-sized West Virginia firms enter new foreign markets. For far more data on export development solutions supplied by the state, check out www.worldtradewv.org.

This is taken from one of six essays written for Sewanee Review from 1913 to 1915 by Ambrose Robert Hite Ranson (1831-1919) about his growing up years living at his family home, Gap View, and his experiences during the Civil War as a Confederate officer. His observations are very informative about daily life pre-war amid unacceptable observations condoning the enslavement of other human beings. His account is still important in its rendering of daily work on a farm in the 1840s and 1850s in Jefferson County, Virginia, one of the most agricultural counties in the Virginias. These conditions were substantially different in the northern Shenandoah Valley when compared to the brutal monocultures in the deep South. Enslavement in Jefferson County, based on writings of those – white and black – who lived here then – was one of diverse work, the pervasive fear of being sold south, pockets of profound cruelty, and the tantalizing nearness of the option of escaping to freedom.

That the negro was better housed, better fed, better clothed, and better looked after in sickness than now, was simply because the owner had money at stake. He had warm clothing, plenty of wholesome food, and a good doctor when ill, because of that money.

In September the cloth and yarn for his winter clothing were brought home from the factory, and the work of making up began and was only finished at Christmas. In every household there was a woman who could cut out the garments, and all the younger girls had been taught how to sew and knit. During the year, all the girls, in clean frocks, assembled in some room in the great house every morning, and the class of sewers and knitters was presided over by some

Earl Ray Tomblin, along with West Virginia Division of Commerce Secretary Keith Burdette, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, awarded the International Market place Entry Award to 37 firms from across the Mountain State. These awards honor West Virginia businesses that successfully exported to a new nation. In 2015, West Virginia companies exported a lot more than .8 billion in goods to far more than 140 nations.
