Rainbow's insight:

The main hypothesis in this article is that feedback would increase the availability of conscious structural knowledge (explicit learning).

Implicit learning - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Implicit learning

Implicit learning is the learning of complex information in an incidental manner, without awareness of what has been learned. According to Frensch and Rünger (2003) the general definition of implicit learning is still subject to some controversy, although the topic has had some significant developments since the 1960s.

Rainbow's insight:
This site defines the term "Implicit learning". Importanatly, you can not count on the fact that it is academic definition.

Investigating learning deficits associated with dyslexia

Rainbow's insight:

This finding was interpreted as showing that dyslexic participants were less able, compared to controls, to process individual stimulus elements of both the sequences and the embedded stimuli, consistently with recent work associating dyslexia with problems in attention focusing and shifting

Theories of artificial grammar learning

Theories of artificial grammar learning | Artificial Grammar Learning | Scoop.it
access and identity management
Rainbow's insight:

In this article, the author concludes that satisfactory understanding of AGL requires (a) an understanding of implicit knowledge as knowledge that is not consciously activated at the time of a cognitive operation; this could be because the corresponding representations are impoverished or they cannot be concurrently supported in working memory with other representations or operations, and (b) adopting a frequency-independent view of rule knowledge and contrasting rule knowledge with specific similarity and associative learning (co-occurrence) knowledge.

Rainbow's insight:

The most signiicant thing I have gained from  this assignment is the short abstract we had written under the name "X insight". This exercise made it possible for me to highlight the important points in each article. In addition,  my computer stopped working last week so fortunately the blog I had created functioned as  a back up to my articles .Certainly  this site will serve me a lot in the future.

Our shared condition -- consciousness

Our shared condition -- consciousness | Artificial Grammar Learning | Scoop.it

Philosopher John Searle lays out the case for studying human consciousness -- and systematically shoots down some of the common objections to taking it seriously. As we learn more about the brain processes that cause awareness, accepting that consciousness is a biological phenomenon is an important first step. And no, he says, consciousness is not a massive computer simulation. (Filmed at TEDxCERN.)
