50 Animation Tools And Resources For Digital Learners – TeachThought

50 Animation Tools And Resources For Digital Learners – TeachThought | Τα παιδία παίζει και μαθαίνει | Scoop.it
Educators need to decide which tool is best for them. If you want to create your own animation from scratch, then you want to go to sites such as Animwork. If you want to select from an animation that’s already set up, for you then perhaps Explainia makes more sense.

One of the easiest ways to animate, however, isn’t with your own camera and modeling clay, it’s with your links to sites that hand you everything within their own forums.

Use the first part of this list for creating original animation or using animation tools to create lessons. Use the second part to select animated lessons that are already completed and set to share.

Six Truths About Implementing a Learning Game that Gets Results | Knowledge Guru

Six Truths About Implementing a Learning Game that Gets Results | Knowledge Guru | Τα παιδία παίζει και μαθαίνει | Scoop.it
I love games—but that does not mean I think a game is the appropriate option for every learning situation. I do not think it will always equal the most effective or efficient means of helping people learn. In fact, I wrote a post recently clarifying how games differ from learning games because a lot of people …

Some good tips and advice.

Alex Hurtado's curator insight, September 23, 2017 7:03 PM
In this post, we could see several things to consider at the time of implementing games for learning purpose. However, how appropriate is this option? Have you ever considered the pros and cons? As was mentioned before. There are important factors to take into account when one implements games. learning purpose, time of implementing and designing of the game. It is important that the game has a pedagogical purpose, sometimes we implement games just to get fun learners and it could lack of the learning purpose. Other thing is timing, if learners are taking so many time performing the game. It could not be so benefit for learners and teachers. because of planning the time should be balanced in the learning process. To carry out in a good way games, need a good design, purpose and also piloting it. Before learners playing it. I mean to know what I should improve, and which problems can emerge.

Interactive Storytelling and Coding

Interactive Storytelling and Coding | Τα παιδία παίζει και μαθαίνει | Scoop.it
Knowing that coding is an important skill for students to learn, I knew I had to come up with ways to teach coding skills. However, I knew nothing about coding, so I needed to learn a few basics. With my new found knowledge, I came up with so many fun ideas for integrating coding into my literacy lessons. Which is why I am so happy I get to share one of the first ever coding lessons I incorporated into the literacy curriculum AND it is just in time for the Mentor Text Lessons to Warm Up Your Winter Link-Up using the book Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner.

What Are #Micro-Credentials, And Why Are They So Exciting? Makered.org  #makered | Τα παιδία παίζει και μαθαίνει | Scoop.it
Educators are always learning. In the classroom with students, at workshops and trainings, through the process of developing and facilitating lessons, and in so many more places educators are constantly building and refining their skills. Often, the skills developed in their day-to-day practice prove to be the most valuable tools for educators. With micro-credentials, educators can now be formally recognized for the skills and competencies they learn throughout their careers. Micro-credentials are research-backed, expert-assessed, representations of learned skills or competencies that can be presented as a digital badge. In partnership with Digital Promise and their micro-credential platform, Maker Ed is excited to share “Getting Started with Making,” a set of six maker education micro-credentials.

Maker Ed’s set of micro credentials focuses on six of the skills we believe are crucial to educators looking develop and expand their skills as maker educators. Each credential emphasizes our belief that maker education is most successful, impactful, and sustainable when the needs and interests of learners guide the learning experience. From designing the physical space in which making takes place to choosing the materials with which students will make, maker educators should plan in collaboration with learners. Here are the six credentials, and their key competencies:

“Children go out in the world, they look, they see—and a camera is another way for them to capture that,” says Tovah P. Klein, director of the Barnard College Center for Toddler Development and author of How Toddlers Thrive. “You were putting him in the world to look around.” And the stamps and games? “Those took him out of it.” The digital add-ons are a distraction that pulls their focus (literally) away from picture-taking and into a world of silly hats and goofy effects. And developmentally, little kids are very bad at filtering out distractions. “The more simple the toy they’re given,” Klein says, “the more they discover for themselves.”
