Pulse oximeter is a device that is used to measure oxygen level in blood and heart beat rate accurately. The oxygen level in blood is usually displayed in percentage value and it is measured by infrared light that is passed through red blood cells.

As the name suggests the probe is usually clipped to the fingertip of the patient and light is made to pass through the finger of the patient’s and thus the blood-oxygen level is measured accurately. In case if the blood flow is interrupted due to injury or wound the device cannot read accurate values, when you clip the device make sure it is fixed to a place where there is maximum flow of blood.


The next one is the fetal pulse oximeter, the device is specially designed to measure the rate of heart beat and percentage of oxygen level in blood. The fetal oximeter can accurately measure heart beat and oxygen level of the fetus. The probe is inserted to the birth canal of the women and place over the skull of the fetus and the sensor accurately measures hemoglobin level.
