Mental health care is becoming provided in settings other than hospitals. Fairfax Co. employees are learning health first aid training to recognize the signs and symptoms of the people they encounter everyday. People in the local government, secretaries, those in the lobbies interact with consumers and can identify the signs and symptoms to help them seek appropriate help. This understanding for a need to read consumers and the public can create a bridge between company and consumer. This training course can positively impact a school system when working with children in broken homes, or are struggling with mental illness before entering the workforce. These early preventative actions can better shape and fill the companies and consumers to come.

Rachel Sharp's curator insight, February 22, 9:24 PM

Modern day slavery takes all forms across the world. Millions are affected by forced labour in globalized labour markets with a disregard people trafficking, debt bondage and sex trafficking. Migration flows across all continents are accustomed to being bonded into debt. Immigrant families are often found working under the control of their factory owners, and have limited economic opportunities, health services or freedom of movement. It is estimated 10 millions girls under the age of eight are becoming child brides. Child marriages is one of the least recognized forms of modern slavery today, and these children face a life of sexual and domestic violence. Sexual exploitation has been recently recognized as a crisis by famous actors, like Ashton Kutcher who demands a stop to this slavery.
