Party in the Park Question Stream

“Party in the Park” is planned for Saturday, August 11 and will feature a wide assortment of activities for several ages. The event, which begins at 1 p.m. that Saturday, will feature a tractor pull, games for the kids, an Auction, Beer Tent, and entertainment.

I’ve asked the community to share their questions on the Shepherd Today fan page. I’m going to write out some of the questions I have about the event and share them with the event coordinator, and then I will update the document as I get responses.

Working at the Helpdesk

In 2003 despite my best attempts at keeping my job with Special Olympics Michigan, I was let go. This was the third time that I was unemployed, and the job search hadn’t gotten any easier. If anything, it had gotten much harder. I was finding that my particular skillset didn’t make it easy to market myself for jobs. I had very little experience working on a newspaper or publication, was an experienced web developer but didn’t know very many of the programming languages which were popular back then.
This was the moment that redefined our family forever. Theresa returned to work while I was hunting for a job. She ended up getting a temporary part-time position at Wal-Mart. Much like I did during my job search before my position with SOMI, I stayed home with the kids when Theresa was working.
