Lynnette Van Dyke's curator insight, November 7, 2013 11:50 AM

"You can study the world though almost anything!"

A liberal arts approach to STEM! This work constitutes a social change agenda for the urban community but works for everyone else, too!  A "Maker" environment.. This environment does not look like a school.  "It looks like an incubator and is about curation as much as anything else." a space in which students evaluate their project outcomes and determine next or future steps.

Treat kids with respect and enter them into the adult world. Advantageous as an integrated school.

Think about how you learn best and teach kids this way. Integrate what you love to do with the subject that you are teaching for greater rigor, complexity, inquiry, and learning.  Learning happens with passionate teaching and  through learning something worth learning.  Students behave like a journalist or other professional.

Advantageous for ALL kids.  Reverse the peer effect--everyone is going to college, haves and have-nots.
