Most digital marketing experts I've tend to be the creative 'web design' type or the analytics 'techie' type. To bring IT and marketing together we need a hybrids of the two. To make digital work in a large organisation needs an understanding of the customer and user experience and a way of integrating the new technology into existing processes. Otherwise - like CRM - many of these things just wont get adopted
