Discover, Clip And Share Videos From Anywhere With ReelSurfer

Discover, Clip And Share Videos From Anywhere With ReelSurfer | PRODUCTION of Video Music clips and songs | Scoop.it

Excerpted from review article by TechCrunch:
"ReelSurfer is an instant video editor, born out of its founders frustration of trying to find clips, quotes and scenes from their favorite movies on YouTube and other video sites.
ReelSurfer developed the tools to let you clip any video from any website and share it with your “homies” and “homedawgs” over the Facebooks, Twitters and more.

Today, ReelSurfer has officially unveiled a redesigned interface, which looks a whole helluva lot better and makes it easier to navigate and makes its URL search box even more prominent — as it should be.

The new interface still enables users to make video mashups or reels of multiple videos and link back to the source so that viewers can check out the full clip if they so choose. However, the new interface does allow for improved search and video discovery, so that users have a better chance to see if the clip they want to make has already been clippity-clipped by someone else. Time saving, my friends, time saving.

Yet, the biggest addition would have to be that ReelSurfer the now allows users to use its bookmarklet to clip videos from both Brightcove and Ooyala, in addition to YouTube and Vimeo..."

Loglines are tricky things – distilling 120 pages of script into one sentence and imbuing it with the power to summarise, titillate and intrigue is a surprisingly difficult task. Melissa Behm's insight: " This article is credited to Ann Lee a Music Editor who spoke about this topic for Culture Trip. Like a lot of the article I found this one speaks about how few women are doing the "background" work that comes with Music. It speaks on how male-dominated the industry is and I agree. When ever I check to see who has helped produced a song for some of my favorite artist, I might see one female and it hurts. I think it's good if females were to recognize this and realize like some of these women mention, they can do this as well."

The increase in music streaming has also correlated with a decrease in music piracy, implying a revaluing of music's economic worth by the consumer. Many artists, labels, streaming services and publishing companies believe this revenue stream will continue to grow the music economy as a whole.Oct 19, 2016
Thomas T.Winston Jr.'s curator insight, January 21, 8:42 PM
Spotify appeared nine years after Napster, the pioneering file-sharing service, which unleashed piracy on the record business and began the cataclysm that caused worldwide revenues to decline from a peak of twenty-seven billion dollars, in 1999, to fifteen billion, in 2013. The iTunes store, the industry's attempt, in partnership with Apple, to build a digital record shop, opened in 2003 to sell downloads, but that didn't alter the downward trajectory; indeed, by unbundling tracks from the album, so that buyers could cherry-pick their favorite songs, Apple arguably hastened the decline. Legal actions against individuals—thousands of people in the U.S. were sued for downloading music illegally—only alienated potential customers. As bad as the bloodbath was in the U.S., the situation was even worse in Sweden. Pelle Lidell, an executive with Universal Music Publishing in Stockholm, told me that by 2008 “we were an inch away from being buried, and Spotify single-handedly turned that around.”
