Breweries pick up QR code technology for mobile marketing | QR Code Press | Process Improvement | Scoop.it

Though QR codes have been picking up speed as mobile marketing tools across many different industries, it has been observed that breweries in particular are jumping on the two dimensional barcode bandwagon to help to improve the contact that they have with consumers.

This has been noted both on products that are purchased by consumers for home use, as well as those that are displayed in pubs and bars. The Welton brewery’s Hot Chestnuts ale has been making a significant effort in this light, with a QR code displayed directly on the beer clip (a part that is attached to the hand pump for the ale) at a Whitesheaf pub in England.

GrowlTap Review: Keep Craft Beers From the Brewery Fresh at Home - Gizmodo

GrowlTap Review: Keep Craft Beers From the Brewery Fresh at Home - Gizmodo | Process Improvement | Scoop.it

I'm not sure where this should fall on the spectrum of pride to shame, but it has been years since I've tapped a keg. Raging house parties aren't quite as frequent in the years after college, but drinking delicious beer at home for a little take-the-edge-off tipsy pleasure remains a pastime for, well—a lot of us.

There are a few convenient means to get our fix; bottles and cans certainly suffice. But we're in a golden age of breweries at the moment, and more than 99% of the 3,000 lager slingers dotting the United States are independently owned and operated. If you want something more refined (and more tasty) than Bud, you can find it on draft far and wide. And the only way to get those special drinks home from many of those micro-joints is in a growler.... [click headline for more]

Australia's Best Steak Sandwiches

Australia's Best Steak Sandwiches | Process Improvement | Scoop.it

The Australian Hotels Association (WA) has today announced Matso's Broome Brewery as the winner of the AHA's Best Regional Steak Sandwich and the Karalee On Preston Tavern in Como, as the home of Perth's best metro steak sandwich. http://www.ahawa.asn.au/news___information/media_releases.phtml#sthash.QBVOrd5w.dpuf

The winner had, in steak sandwich terminology, superior 'fangability', which is a term used to describe the ease of which one's teeth can sink into a juicy, succulent and flavoursome steak sandwich.

The winning Chef, Mickey Phull, attributed his win to the freshness of the produce he uses and the tender, juicy steak that is accompanied by a homemade barbeque and porcini mushroom sauce.

The Best Brew at Four Points by Sheraton was awarded second place by guest judges that included AHA(WA) CEO, Bradley Woods, Lion Regional Sales Manager, Danny Connolly, Jacki O’Hara from The Peasant’s Table and Graeme Butler from Today Tonight Channel 7.

Australian Hotels Association (WA) CEO, Bradley Woods, congratulated the winner and said “the response from the public and industry to this year’s competition was overwhelming with over 3,000 online nominations submitted to determine the finalists.

“The steak sandwich brings together everything that is great about WA venues and pubs, from the home-styled cooking to the locally-grown produce.”

The five metropolitan finalists faced each other at a ‘cook off’ to determine which steak sandwich was the best at the AHA Hospitality Expo today at Crown Perth.

WA’s Best Steak Sandwich Metropolitan Competition is sponsored by Tourism Western Australia and beverage company Lion.

Belgium is the largest manufacturer of beer in the world and has the largest number of Beer bars as well | Process Improvement | Scoop.it

If you thought that Belgium is only a chocolate haven, well there is reason for you to cheer as its also the largest manufacturer of beer.

With the largest number of Beer bars, this country is home to the world's biggest brewer, Anheuser-Busch (AB) InBev. This company is based in half hour by train from Brussels, churns out one in five of every beer sold around the world. Across the road from head office, the ultra-modern Stella Artois brewery pumps out one of the firm's best-known international brands.

Belgium tops the list for the widest range of beers while producing 1,131 different types of beer.

Every single brand of beer in Belgium has its own unique glass. With over 600 individual beers from 180 breweries. That's a lot of glassware for a country with half the population of Mumbai.
