Manifest Destiny Primary Doc #2

Manifest Destiny Primary Doc #2 | Pro Imperialism | Scoop.it

Manifest Destiny...Expansion westward seemed perfectly natural to many Americans in the mid-nineteenth century. Like the Massachusetts Puritans who hoped to build a "city upon a hill, "courageous pioneers believed that America had a divine obligation to stretch the boundaries of their noble republic to the Pacific Ocean. Independence had been won in the Revolution and reaffirmed in the War of 1812. The spirit of..........

Pro-Imperialism in Tibet

Pro-Imperialism in Tibet | Pro Imperialism | Scoop.it

Americans have been pro imperialist since they discovered this continent. It started with the native americans that lived here before us. The aftermath of what Christopher Columbus did left many natives in the dirt. Slowly after the invasion of Africa we took control of the their resourses and their people forcing them into slavery. This still happens today. Countries go into other countries and force what they think is right upon them. The idea of Social Darwinism in the past and “ survival of the fittest “ was another example of this. The whole idea of Manifest Destiny was to expand across the continent getting rid of whatever was in the way. the concept, born out of "a sense of mission to redeem the Old World", was enabled by "the potentialities of a new earth for building a new heaven". Imperialism now is focused around jobs and the individual economies in the world.

China is going through an anti imperialism phase by offering companies throughout the world a cheaper way to produce their goods. They are improving their economy by doing this but in a non-chalant way because it depletes the economy of the the other country by moving the jobs. When it comes to China they preform both anti and pro imperialism actions. The voice of the Tibetans are often overlooked by other countries and the U.S. alike. Many Tibetans accuse the Chinese of suppressing Tibetan culture, freedom of expression and worship. Recently In August a Tibetan Monk set himself a flame in an attempt to get the attention of other countries in the Anti-Beijing Protest. Imperialism is well and alive today, but is somewhat not as strong and uncontrolled as it once was.

Pro Imperialism Quotes and Today #1

Our every action is a battle cry against imperialism, and a battle hymm for the people's unity against the great enemy of mankind: the United States of America. Wherever death may suprise us, let it be welcome, provide that this, our battle cry may have reached some receptive ear, that another hand may be extended to wield our weapons, and that other men be ready to intone our funeral dirge with the staccato singing of the machine gunds and new battle cries of war and victory.

-Ernesto Che Guevara
