Facebook Introduces Pinterest-Style, Curated "Collections"

Facebook Introduces Pinterest-Style, Curated "Collections" | Prionomy | Scoop.it

Robin Good: Facebook has introduced a new curation feature designed to allow its users to collect and organize their favorite "products" into so-called "Collections".

According to Hubspot "the new feature called 'Collections,' allows marketers to add “Want” or “Collect” buttons to news feed posts about products."

Source: http://blog.hubspot.com/blog/tabid/6307/bid/33698/Facebook-Tests-Pinterest-Style-Feature-Called-Collections.aspx

The new FB "Collections" is publicly available to everyone, and it is being tested "with 7 retail partners -- Pottery Barn, Wayfair, Victoria’s Secret, Michael Kors, Neiman Marcus, Smith Optics, and Fab.com."

(you need to go to those FB brad pages to test it).

It also seems that the feature can be activated in at least three different ways by one of these three upcoming action buttons:

a) "Want": adds the product to a Timeline section of a user's profile called “Wishlist”

b) "Collect": adds the item to a Collection called “Products”

c) "Like": a special version of the standard "Like" button that also adds the item to “Products”

N.B.: While Collections are free for business pages to use, they're only visible to the page's fans. You have to "Like" the page in order to see these types of posts.

109 Ways to Make Your Business Irresistible to the Media | Copyblogger | Prionomy | Scoop.it

Ever wonder why some businesses get press and some don’t? Getting a mainstream media outlet to pay attention to your business seems like an impossible-to-solve mystery.

You might see your competitors spouting a diatribe that you know for a fact is wrong, or that you could explain better.

“Why did they interview that guy instead of me?” you wonder.

Actually, it’s not you. 99 times out of 100, it’s not your qualifications, your knowledge, or your ability.
It’s your approach.

After 10 years as a journalist, I’ve seen just about every bad pitch you can imagine. And I’ve also come up with 109 foolproof ways to entice the media in your city to highlight your business — approaches that make the mainstream media unable to resist you...

10 Creative Ways to “Level-Up” Your Presence on Facebook

10 Creative Ways to “Level-Up” Your Presence on Facebook | Prionomy | Scoop.it

I love Facebook – not only because it helps me remember when to wish my friends a “Happy Birthday”, but also because it has been an extremely effective tool for my brand.

For example, over the past year Facebook has overwhelmingly been the number one site for referral traffic to SPI:

Again, this is for traffic coming to the blog – not necessarily the method that new visitors have found out about me (which is, as I’ve recently found out, through my podcast). In fact, if you look across the row you’ll see that Facebook actually has the lowest percentage in terms of new visits, at 19.05%...

How Brands Can Manage Facebook Comment Overload

How Brands Can Manage Facebook Comment Overload | Prionomy | Scoop.it
Large-scale waves of Facebook comments can come at any time, for a variety of reasons. Try these steps for effective comment management.

Human beings are social by nature, and not surprisingly, we choose to spend much of our talkative time on Facebook.

Comscore released data in December 2011 that showed Facebook is virtually synonymous with social media. Worldwide, people spend three out of every four minutes of their total social networking time on Facebook.

Check out the recent comment counts on nearly any major Facebook brand Page — the numbers get big very quickly. Disney’s image of Happy, the dwarf from Snow White earned over 1,600 comments at the time of publication. Coca-Cola asked fans whether they have ice-cold Cokes in their fridges – 2,170+ comments.

The Secret to Attracting 1,000 True Fans

The Secret to Attracting 1,000 True Fans | Prionomy | Scoop.it

Everyone says play bigger, grow; keep expanding.

But is all growth and development good, or even necessary?

I’ve learned that there’s no guarantee that growth will make a difference in your business. You can have more people on your list, and no one actually buying. You can have more traffic, and only crickets in your comments section.

There’s a big difference between growth that’s meaningful and growth that’s hollow. The difference is depth.

A lot of people say you need 1,000 true fans. I think that’s a good, tangible goal to aim for.

For our purposes, “True Fans” are defined as: People that buy everything you create. When you announce the launch of a product, creation, or offer, they are actively waiting for you to release it. They refresh the “coming soon” page. They comment on every post. They tell everyone they can about what you do.

1,000 is good because it’s a number that we can wrap our minds around. It seems like a stretch, but it also seems doable. You can convert one true fan a day if you’re really on your game.
