If early studies are any indication, it will also make it more effective. Here’s the deal: Like regular GPS, indoor GPS aids in navigation. Using either WiFi or a newer technology called low-energy bluetooth, or “beacon”, indoor mapping applications enable smart phone owners to find their way around inside buildings in much the same way mapping apps help them to navigate city streets.

ScenSor works by transmitting wireless signals to readers that use them to locate a tagged object to within 10 centimeters. It can either replace or complement radio frequency identification (RFID) and WiFi chips currently used for indoor tracking where satellite navigation signals are not available. It allows for more specific, minute-to-minute location information for high-value goods, such as warehouse pallets, over short range and through obstructions.
