Don't forget to do this during your interview!

Don't forget to do this during your interview! | Interview Advice & Tips | Scoop.it
Cruise Line Class's insight:

Okay, so you may have heard me mention a time or two or more  of tips on what to do to ace an interview; however, I have written in a while about the one thing that can stump even the most prepared interviewers.....your resume content.

Re-purposing your summary, strengths, accomplishments, and experience based on what is relevant to the position, company, and industry is smart.....Please keep a copy of the resume that you sent to the employer:)

When it comes time for you to prepare for the interview, make sure that you review the content of the resume, and are prepared to discuss your claims and accomplishments.

The day of the interview make sure to bring additional copies of the resume, and keep a copy for  yourself so that you can  refer to the  specific job experience concisely during the interview.

You don't want to be stumped by a question or reference....or be embarassed, because you forgot which resume you sent the employer.

-----If anyone has any funny stories to share....we would love to hear from you!

Make it a great day!

Cruise Line Class's insight:

Great article.

Remember, as I say in my books...not asking any questions during the interview could send the wrong message.  It could mistakenly send a message that you are not prepared or that you are not interested.

On the other hand, asking the wrong questions or asking too many questions could irritate the interviewer.

This article discusses the right questions to ask.

What are some questions that work for you during an interview?

92% of Americans Fear Job Interviews
MainStreet
NEW YORK (MainStreet) — There are few factors more instrumental to the hiring process than the interview, and yet just about everyone has an unhealthy fear of them.

Via Eric Kramer
Cruise Line Class's insight:

This is how I see fear:  Nerves are simply energy that I can use in a purposeful way.  Fear is normal and absolutely can be controlled.

So be fully prepared, leave yourself plenty of time with traffic, think positively, and be yourself!

Also, you may want to avoid coffee or soda with caffeine....caffeine may amplify your nerves.

Make it a great day!

Job Interview Checklist - Job Searching - About.com | Interview Advice & Tips | Scoop.it
Do you have a job interview coming up? It's important to be sure that you are ready for the interview well in advance. You'll need to take the time to learn as much as you can about the company and the job.
Cruise Line Class's insight:

Preparing for an interview is like a triangle.  You need to prepare yourself:  Why would they hire you, and why are you the best candidate for the position?  If you aren't clear about this...how can you convey this to the interviewer?

Prepare about the job:  Go through the entire job posting bullet by bullet, and be prepared to answer any questions regarding job experience, projects, and technical skills.

Prepare and Research about the company:  Make sure that you have researched the company and if applicable the interviewer.  Know the history, brand, mission, vision, and culture.  Be prepared to demonstrate how you will add value to the company, department, and position.  Can you explain how you are a fit to the culture?

Common Interview Question: Why Do You Want to Become Part of Our Team? | Job Interview Tips

Common Interview Question: Why Do You Want to Become Part of Our Team? | Job Interview Tips | Interview Advice & Tips | Scoop.it
You need to be able to show you know the company when you are asked why you want to become part of the team.
Cruise Line Class's insight:

No matter how smart you are...an interview is not the time to test your intelligence and to wing it!

Take the time to prepare to ace the interview as you would for an important exam that your entire grade relied on.

When you take the time to research the company and position before you apply...its alot easier to speak about why you want to join the company.

In contrast, if you don't know much about the company...it is even more important to research the company so that you can genuinely and honestly answer why you want to become part of the team.

Long story short -- Prepare, be honest, and know why you want to work for the company and join the team.  Don't just fake it:)

Make it a great day!
