Tokyo Gains Rights to Host 2020 Olympics Over Madrid, Istanbul

Tokyo Gains Rights to Host 2020 Olympics Over Madrid, Istanbul | Politics & Society | Scoop.it
Tokyo won the right to host the 2020 Olympics, defeating Madrid and Istanbul by overcoming apathy by the Japanese public and a recent nuclear accident to get the Summer Games for the second time.
WRoyce's insight:

Congratulations to Tokyo!

Recent news had convinced me Madrid was winning.  I wish I could remember that news source, I would quit reading them.

Would you like to go to the Olympics in Tokyo?

Focus on the Family seeks to preserve traditional family

Click here to edit the title

WRoyce's insight:

Ironically, the author takes a very liberal slant upon Focus on the Family, but then allowed Focus to present their views in a very traditional manner.

I ask, what is wrong with tradition?

Or, should we remove WW2 from our history books?  WW1?  Traditional Families?  Which by the way are being removed and replaced.  Should we remove the Mayflower?  Thanksgiving?

It is sad that progressives have been allowed to abuse our history in such a way for so many decades.  I doubt if most of our chidlren today know about our countries rich heritage.

Rich Norwegians Turn Down Labor as Welfare Loses Its Allure

Rich Norwegians Turn Down Labor as Welfare Loses Its Allure | Politics & Society | Scoop.it
Promises of more welfare for Scandinavia’s richest citizens are failing to boost Labor Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg’s popularity.
WRoyce's insight:

Norway chooses to cut back on welfare, not go into debt, lower taxes, and build infrastructure.

And their median income is $80,000 ....

Anyone interested in learning Norwegian?

There's A New Study That Says Welfare Pays Better Than Work — Here's Why It's Total Nonsense

There's A New Study That Says Welfare Pays Better Than Work — Here's Why It's Total Nonsense | Politics & Society | Scoop.it
The Cato Institute is out with an update to their 1995 study which purports to show that, in most states, welfare pays better than work.
WRoyce's insight:

Business Insider tries to make the case that Welfare is not expensive, and the people on welfare are not getting much in benefits.

But, as you read through the writer's bias, it becomes apperant that many people on welfare are doing much better than I did in college working 2 & 3 jobs to support myself.

I am not certain if that is a reason to reduce benefits to those in the system, but it does sound like there is room to lower some of the benefits.

One person I know of that could use a huge cut in benefits would be President Obama's aunt who moved to the US (illegally) so she soulc receive benefits.

What do you think?
