How do I clear my Java cache?

How do I clear my Java cache? | Pogo Technical Support | Scoop.it

If you're having problems running Pogo games, you should try clearing your Java cache. Please note: Java cache is different than your Browser cache. Clearing your Java cache can be a quick and easy fix. Please follow these steps if you are using a Windows platform:

Click the following things in order: Start > Control Panel > Java.

Note: If you do not see the Java icon, click on Switch to Classic View in the menu on the left-hand side, and this should allow you to see the Java icon.

Under the General tab, click the Settings button located in the Temporary Internet Files section.

Then click on Delete Files

A dialog box will appear. Make sure all the options are selected, and click OK.

This should probably be done whenever you encounter a problem with the way a game is functioning. Restarting your computer after doing so can also help the performance of the game.

You should also make sure you're running the latest version of Java. If you are not sure if you have the latest version of Sun Java or not, please visit and follow the instructions. Click Here (See More…)

Help! My game won’t load

Help! My game won’t load | Pogo Technical Support | Scoop.it

If games
on Pogo don't load for you, load very slowly, or give errors such
as 'Please wait, Loading,' see below for
information on the most common causes (and links to instructions on how to
address them). Even still, there is a lot more information at your fingertips
that you can find with some quick Internet searches.

First,

let's try to rule out some specific issues:

Is the game you
can't load any of the following: Poppit!, Word Whomp,
First Class Solitaire, or a game without an in-game Chat option?Does your computer lock up or reboot when you try to load a
game?Does the game that
won't load have a Weekly
Challenge
going on, especially on Wednesdays?Are
you running Microsoft Vista and having trouble
patching?

If
you can rule the above issues out, here are steps to take if the server status Answer says things are OK:

First, clear your Browser Cache and Java Cache if you're using Sun Java (#2).If that doesn't
solve the issue, please update your Java (#3).If the two previous
steps don't solve the issue, please read below about help with
antivirus/firewall issues.Also, read our
article about configuring the
settings for your firewall or proxy server with Pogo.Furthermore, our
article with information regarding pop-up
blockers/anti-spyware/adware may help.

If
Java is installed on your machine but not
enabled

If you're still having issues and you're certain that Java is installed on your
machine, it may be disabled. All mainstream browsers have an option for
enabling Java, which ensures any applets that use it will function properly.
For a complete list of per-browser instructions for enabling Java, visit

Here's what to do if
clearing your cache and making sure your Java is updated doesn't resolve
the issue.

The
most common causes of problems that
players encounter when playing our games are simply caused by anti-virus,
firewall, ad blocking, and pop-up blocking software. The easiest way to
determine if one or more of these is the cause of the problem is to simply
disable them and see if the problem goes away. If the problem goes away,
then the next step is to figure out how to configure the software to still
protect your system without preventing you from playing our games. In
this case, you should refer to the software’s manual or help files for
detailed instructions on how to make the desired changes to the software.

Some
common symptoms of this include:

"Cripes!"
Errors“Server too Busy”
ErrorsCards disappear or
do not appearOther graphics do
not appear or are distorted“Game Loading”
indicator never goes awayProfiles never
appearTable windows never
open

Also,
there are several types of maintenance steps that can be taken on a
regular basis to try and prevent problems from occurring. This includes
deleting Temporary Internet Files / Browser Cache and deleting Game Objects. We only officially
support a few browsers as they are the most common and compatible with our
site. They are: Netscape 7.x, Internet Explorer 6.x, Mozilla
Firefox, and Safari for Mac OS X (and later versions of these
browsers as applicable). If you do a search on the help site for
"Cache," you will find instructions on how to clear the cache for
those browsers. In addition, Apple's web site has an article containing some helpful
information about getting the Safari browser to work with Pogo
games.

For
Club Pogo members, you can follow these instructions on
deleting objects in Internet Explorer. This is where the game files are
actually stored with Fast Access on Club Pogo. Here's how to do that:

Open Internet
Explorer (even if you normally use the AOL or MSN browser).Click Tools on the IE
toolbar.Select Internet
Options.In the middle of
the Internet Options window, click the 'Settings' button (located
in the middle of the Browsing History section). On the Settings
screen, click the View Objects tab. This is where your browser
stores the actual game applet.Look for any files
in the list that are Pogo games. Things like 'PopFu
by Pogo', 'Freecell by Pogo' and so on, and delete those.Click Yes to
confirm the deletion of each file.

If you've
followed the steps listed above and are still encountering difficulties, the
issue could be a problem with our servers. Most often, we are already aware of
these problems because we have received complaints from other members (or we
notice that the number of players on the site is abnormally low or declining).
The best thing to do is to check back again in an hour or two and see if the
problem is gone. If all else fails, please contact us and let us
know what problem you're experiencing (including any error messages) and what
you have tried so far to fix it.

Here
is some information that is generally helpful in trying to track down the cause
of the problems. Please try to include as much
information as you can (so long as it pertains to your issue).

Date:Time:Time Zone:Room Name:Table Number:Description of problem:Steps taken so far
to try and fix it:Include screen

install latest Java

when trying to play pogo games

Our team is aware of an issue which prompts Pogo players to install the latest Java and prevents them from playing Pogo games, even if they have already installed the latest Java. You may see the following image:

This issue may arise from the browser you're using. Just in case, we recommend using Internet Explorer directly from your desktop or using one of the other supported browsers: Google Chrome or Firefox.

Please note: Unfortunately, we have not supported AOL software or the AOL Desktop client browser for several years now and we have been unable to keep it up-to-date. As we work on trying to improve performance among standardized browsers, you may encounter problems with using unsupported software.

Unable to Start sims 3 Game

Unable to Start sims 3 Game | Pogo Technical Support | Scoop.it

Device 0 cannot run title message in The Sims

The most likely reason why you are receiving the 'Device 0 cannot run this title' error message is because your system, or some aspect of it, does not meet the Minimum System Requirements to run The Sims 3.

If you have checked your Minimum System Requirements against a list that is not supported by EA (such as the Can You Run it website), please verify that you can run The Sims 3 by using the System Requirements Checker found on this site.

If you do meet Minimum System Requirements, but you are still receiving this message, your drivers may be out of date (and thus the game is having trouble recognizing your Video or Sound card as able to run the game). Click here for instructions on how to update your drivers.

If you continue on receiving this error message, even after verifying your system meets Minimum System Requirements and your drivers are up-to-date, try running the game in Windowed Mode.

How can I run the game in Windowed Mode, if I can't access the game in the first place?

You can edit the 'Options.ini' file to force the game to start in Windowed Mode. Users have reported success in running the game and getting rid of the error message after forcing their game to run in Windowed Mode by following the instructions below:

Click on the 'Start' button on your Windows Taskbar.

Select 'My Documents.'

Double-click on the 'Electronic Arts' folder.

Open 'The Sims 3' folder.

Right-click on the 'Options.ini' file and select 'Open With...'

Choose to open the file in 'Notepad.'

Press the 'Ctrl' and 'F' key at the same time to bring up the 'Find' panel.

Type in the following line (without the quotes): 'fullscreen = 1.'

This line should be the 8th option from the top, above 'simquality'

Change the number 1 to a number 0.

The line should now read: 'fullscreen = 0.'

Your game should now start in Windowed Mode. See More ( )

Alter setting on battlefield3

Rental Server on consol

There is currently an issue with the Battlefield 3 Rental Server Program that causes a server to become unresponsive once its ban list exceeds a certain number. When this occurs, the server renter will be unable to play on the server, see any admin on the server, or alter any settings on the server with the exception of adding additional admins. We are working to fix this issue and apologize for the inconvenience it may cause.

There is a way to fix the issue yourself, provided that you are willing to add an admin to the server. Once added, this admin will be able to remove the bans that have been made. When the ban list has been cleared out, the server will become playable again.

If you have a trusted party that you are willing to add as an admin to your server, please follow the directions below. If you do not, or all of your friends are already admins on the server, please contact a Game Advisor and they will assist you. Please note, the issue affecting the server will prevent you from seeing whether an admin has been added or not. You will be unable to see any admins, even newly added ones.

On Xbox 360:

From the Multiplayer menu, select the My Servers option.

Select your server and press A.

Press the right bumper (RB) twice to reach the Manage Players screen.

Highlight the Server Admins options and press A.

Enter your friend’s Gamertag and press Start.

Note: Ask your friend to follow steps 6 through 10.

From the Multiplayer menu, select the My Servers option.

Select the server to which you were just added as an admin and press A.

Press the right bumper (RB) twice to reach the Manager Players screen.

Highlight the Banned from Server option and press right on the directional pad.

Press A to remove each player from this list.

On PS3:

From the Multiplayer menu, select the My Servers option.

Select your server and press X.

Server Connection Issues

When troubleshooting online connections, you should keep in mind that you are not only dealing with your home network, but also your Internet Service Provider's series of networks. Also be aware that there can be a number of routers that your connection will pass through in order to reach the game server.

Information transferred on the Internet is handled by shuttling bits of information, known as packets. For example, when you visited this web page, all the parts of the page were passed from the webpage server, through your Internet Service Provider's network, into your home network, and finally to your computer, all in packets. Downloading information from the internet is simply a matter of passing packets back and forth between your computer and a server through a series of networks. If these packets fail to reach their destination, you receive errors concerning your connection. Many high-speed modems have no minimum specified packet size for outbound packets. When given a smaller packet, a correctly configured router will pad the packet to an acceptable size, and then will pass the information along. In the case of the older Internet router code, these packets may not be padded and can be discarded or corrupted before continuing along to the game server. The information passed through your modem to our servers may be corrupted or discarded - resulting in lost information, disconnects, lag, and other problems. Here is a short list of some of the things that can stop you from connecting.

Firewalls

Software firewalls on systems and hardware firewalls on routers will prevent your computer from connecting to our server.

Routers

Some routers have certain settings that can interfere with the transfer of packets.

Server outages

Occasionally servers will experience an outage. Typically an outage can last from 24 to 48 hours.

Internet security software

Internet security software will block or filter information that may be vital for the software to run.

Typically connection issues are caused by one or more ports being blocked by a firewall, router, or even your Internet Service Provider to help maintain security. These ports are the doorways used to send and receive information between your computer and the server. You must configure your router/firewall to have the game's ports open in order to connect to the servers properly. You may also need to contact your Internet Service Provider to ensure that these ports are opened as well.

Also, be sure you are running Battlefield 2 with the latest patch

The latest Battlefield patch can be found here

The ports for Battlefield 2 are as follows:

UDP ports:

27900

29900

29910

27901

55123

55124

55215

16567

1500-4999

18060

TCP ports:

80

29900

29901

29920

28910

4711

18060

You may also need to have your Internet Service Provider open these ports for you. For help configuring a firewall or router you may need to refer to the manufacturer.

If you are using GameSpy Arcade, please check the requirements listed in the Working Around

the Firewall/Proxy section of their site:

GameSpy Arcade's firewall page

Further connection troubleshooting steps

Perform these PunkBuster updates

You will also want to try deleting the following folders: C:\My Docs\Battlefield 2\dmp, LogoCache, & mods

Consider the following:

See if you are experiencing the same issues on a particular server type. The type of server appears to the left of the multiplayer server-selection portal.

The server type icons can be found here

The larger the map, the more info that is required to transmit! You may not have a connection that can handle large player maps. You might get better results on smaller maps. Even if you have the bandwidth and hardware to handle the large maps, remember that the particular server you are attempting to join may NOT have the best connection for you. Try another server.

VoIP (Voice Over IP) enabled servers also means more data transmission. Try non-VoIP servers as well.

It could also be another player that is causing the lag on the server. This will domino and cause all other players to experience game lag. Typically an admin will boot such players from the game ~ but this does not always happen. See More ( )
