Wise One, you offer sage advice -

take tentative peeks when the coast is clear,

but don’t trust Frost – He’s a fickle friend;

cautious remain in conditions drear,

reserving heart for a safer trend.

Grow and bud when the weather’s warm -

use the sun to draw out full bloom;

When Winter comes, retreat from harm,

And dream of Spring from your frozen tomb.

Salvia is a perennial in the sage family.
