Migration Manager for Scala is now Open Source - typesafe's blog | playframework | Scoop.it

Today, Typesafe is open sourcing the code behind Migration Manager, a binary compatibility reporting tool for Scala.

Migration Manager gives Scala project owners the ability to test their projects for binary compatibility with prior versions. Migration Manager has already been used to ensure binary compatibility for the 2.9.x series of Scala releases, and we look forward to seeing other projects in the Scala ecosystem adopt it soon.

#playframework Step by step migrate your Groovy template to Rythm template - Part One

#playframework Step by step migrate your Groovy template to Rythm template - Part One | playframework | Scoop.it

I've just release Rythm-1.0RC4 with new features including precompile support, null-safe expression and template class properties enhancement, I feel it's time to write this post as there is nearly nothing you can do with Groovy but not with Rythm. Yes you can leverage all your experiences gained from Play's Groovy template engine and apply them immediately to Rythm and gain a 3 to 20 times faster rendering speed with even more clean Razor like syntax.

Scala DSL tutorial – writing web framework router | CODETUNES

Recently released Play 2.0 framework brings new way of creating web services
to Java community. It’s nice and fun, but I dislike few components. One of them is the router with its custom routes definitions file, separate compiler and weird logic.
As a Ruby developer I started to wonder if it could be implemented in Scala as simple DSL.

Inspired by Actual Events: Scala for 2012? Deciding Whether to Invest In a Programming Language

For several years now, I've been somewhat curious about Scala, but have not yet committed myself to using it and learning it because other languages, frameworks, and tools have grabbed my attention. I recently welcomed the opportunity to pose some questions to Scala creator Martin Odersky related to what is in Scala that might motivate me (and others) to invest time and energy into learning Scala.

java - How to use generic class with specific objects in a static context? - Stack Overflow

I'm gonna try to explain at my best.

I use Play Framework 2, and I will do a lot of CRUD actions. Some of them will be identitcal, so I'd like to KISS and DRY so at first I was thinking about an abstract class containing the list, details, create, update and delete methods, with generic object, and extend this class by specifying which object to use (Model & Form) :

sql - Wanted: Good examples of Scala database persistence - Stack Overflow

I would like to use Scala to persist data to a relational database, so what I am looking for are examples of CRUD operations using Scala.

I would like to code on a lower level of abstraction than an ORM like Hibernate/Toplink (read:JDBC), but between us, I would like to see examples of all types.
