Going fast - brilliant! Going really fast; 1600km/hr fast - that requires a totally new approach to problem solving. This approach is known as  "designer experiments" using lots of micro experiments and combining each algorithm (solution) into a single integrated solution. That takes a lots of mathematics and very clever mathematics to build macro solutions.
