The residents of the cathedral city of Worcester are used to flooding – as any cricket fan will remember, the local county cricket ground was so badly affected in 2007 that it didn’t host a match until late June.

Moves are being made to end a four-year delay to rules meant to prevent new housing developments making floods worse.
Steven Billington's insight:

The Government has been trying to put in place rules to ensure that new housing estates are landscaped so that rainwater from roofs and drives seeps into open ground rather than going into the draianage system. Remember, water seeping through the ground (throughflow) will reach the river ore slowly over a period of time, making it less likely to flood). However, builders and developers have not been happy abut these rules. They say they will make houses more expensive.
