Is a ‘pedagogy of meaning’ the answer to negative experiences of PE? – | Physical Education & Health | Scoop.it

Classroom welcome DECAL

Classroom welcome DECAL | Physical Education & Health | Scoop.it
About a month ago twitter went bananas for my check in/check out system in my classroom. It was an experiment for me to discover what children are internalising before they entered my classroom and if my style of education was able to have an affect on their personal motivation and happiness. The results were incredible. Of the 20000 pairs of feet that I collected data on I found that 65% of children came through happy, 21% of children came through feeling OK and a staggering 14% of children entered what I thought as the happiest place on earth feeling sad. This was almost 3000 children over the space of 5 months. Since sharing this secret to the world I have had great pleasure in seeing different educators take on their own check in systems so they too can be guided as to the understandings of how children feel when they enter and exit our classrooms. I have for you today the upgraded model of my method. This super adhesive, full colour laminated DECAL sticker is to be used on any clean service. It gives you a chance as a passionate educator to pay attention to the small things that really mater. Note: The purchaser takes full responsibility of this product and what you attempt to stick it to. We suggest sampling a corner first if you are unsure as how adhesive the product is. Some hardwood services may peal their polish upon removal.

Kids Need Play and Recess. Their Mental Health May Depend on It. - Peter DeWitt's Finding Common Ground - Education Week | Physical Education & Health | Scoop.it
Let's provide more opportunities in school so children learn how to make decisions and develop an internal locus of control. This way a child can influence events and outcomes in their own lives and in return, we will have more children who are potentially less anxious and depressed, all which inhibits their true potential as human beings.
