The Philippines began an insurrection against the United States for independence. 

2. Annexed - Appended or add as an extra or subordinate part, esp. to a document.

The Philippines were annexed before the insurrection.

3. Imperialism - A policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or militay force.

America wanted imperialism on the Philippine Islands, to be used for a military base.

4. Isolationism - A policy of remaining apart from the affairs or interests of other groups, the politcal affairs of other countries.

5. Philippines - A country in Southeast Asia that consistes of an archipelago of over 7,000 Islads.

The Philippines are very beautiful to see.
