I agree on this. As a Language teacher, comprehension is the key to a successful English class. However, that is the main problem as well. According to studies, comprehension of L2 (Second Language) is based on how well they comprehend using their L1 (mother tongue). So we can conclude that, L1 has a great impact on comprehending L2 or other foreign languages one would like to learn. L1 mastery is important then.

--This got a lot of point. As a teacher, I have proven several times that practice drills can really enhance one's learning. So if we are really after the improvement of quality, why not have several practice drills? (If you get what I mean?)
