- The Archdiocese plans to close 4 catholic high schools and either close or merge 44 elementary schools.
- Schools like Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast High school are more likely to close because they are suffering the worst.
- Parents, children, and familes have been setting up fundraisers, Facebook pages, and having rallies to help get money to keep this school and many others open. They have raised almost 5 million dollars.
- Schools have been filing appeals as well to help keep the schools open, but they are going to need to have very well evidence to help support thier appeal.

- The Archdiocese projects that about 1,700 teachers will lose their job and need to apply for new ones by the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year.

- Parents are starting to get angry because the high tuition is getting harder for them to pay it. Then that is leading to low enrollment and that's why schools will be closing. 

- Some parents are even taking their children out of school simply because they cannot pay the tuition.

- Archbishop recently said that he does not want to deal with the enrollment and financial problems anymore so closing some schools will be the firsts steps in renewing the ministry.

- Ever since this problem has started, it's been crumbling the ministry day by day.

- If the ministry is losing money then they cannot support their schools and therefore need to close some in order to stay strong.

- The Archdiocese believes closing some schools that have been lacking in education will help create a higher religious education. 

- Some schools have been suffering with paying their bills and causing the Archdiocese to stop buying books and other tools for learning.

- So now schools cannot afford new books and computers and supplies to help teach their students. This will only become worse if the Archdiocese keeps these schools open. 

- At a recent board meeting Archbishop Chaput said, "This plan is designed to develop stronger schools that are better positioned to deliver the high quality education that parents want and students need in order to compete in the 21st century."

- Officials of the Blue Ribbon Commission's goal was not to make a list of schools to close but to make a plan that will promote high quality religious education.
