Separating the wheat from the chaff

Separating the wheat from the chaff | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
For my first post-welcome post, I'd like to offer comments on a few significant quotes from stuff I've read. This might help to sharpen the contrast between the circular growth economy I do not advocate and the perma-circular economy I do advocate. One of the main think tanks spearheading a totally mainstream approach to generalized…

From permaculture punks to anaerobic digesters

From permaculture punks to anaerobic digesters | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

I came across a fascinating essay about permaculture and energy descent in Mexico that introduces me for the first time to the existence of so-called permaculture punks in Mexico City. Its author, Holger Hieronimi, has spent the last seven years developing a permaculture based homestead there- so he knows the difference between theory and practise. The picture above, which shows a stage in the construction of an anaerobic digester, is just one among a whole sequence of fascinating visual stories. I also never heard of bocashi composting, either, until today. - See more at: http://www.doorsofperception.com/food-systems-design/from-permaculture-punks-to-anaerobic-digesters/#sthash.fDakxYKv.rB9Rs4rz.dpuf

« Tous les mécanismes vitaux, quelque variés qu'ils soient, n'ont toujours qu'un but, celui de maintenir l'unité des conditions de la vie dans le milieu intérieur. » (Claude Bernard)

Maintenir l'équilibre mécanique d'un milieu, ou Homéostasie, est l'idée centrale de la permaculture.
Au delà de techniques, il s'agit de repenser la place et le devenir de l'homme sur la planète Terre.

Petit document explicatif et disponible dans 9 langues !

Seedbombing: applying the principles of permaculture to finance | Ecology Building Society

Seedbombing: applying the principles of permaculture to finance | Ecology Building Society | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Finance, even in its most high-tech formulations, is rooted in ecological systems. A high-frequency trading hedge fund, for example, relies on electricity created by burning fossilised organic matter. It relies on employees, surviving via agricultural systems. It trades in company shares, given value by the actions of those companies’ employees using assets (like computers and telecommunications systems) that are all dependent – at some level – on mining, forestry, and other extractive industries.

These videos are documents from two design courses taught by Bill Mollison at the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose Texas in 1994 and 1995. They are a definitive selection from our original 16 part series. A Prosperous Descent - Telling new stories as the old book closes - The Permaculture Research Institute

A Prosperous Descent - Telling new stories as the old book closes - The Permaculture Research Institute | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it
OVER THE LAST two centuries in the West, we have been telling ourselves that economic growth is the most direct path to prosperity, that the good life implies material affluence, and that technology and ‘free markets’ will be able to solve most of our social and environmental problems. In recent decades, we have even attempted to impose this story on the entire globe, arrogantly declaring the end of history.

401: Psycho-social Debt Jubilee

401: Psycho-social Debt Jubilee | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

KMO welcomes permaculture co-originator David Holmgren to the C-Realm Podcast to discuss two of his essays: Money Vs Fossil Energy: the Battle for Control of the World and Crash on Demand: Welcome to the Brown Tech Future. David has been tracking the onset of climate change and peak oil for many years, but he says that in recent years, largely due to the work of Steve Keen and Nicole Foss, he has come to see financial systems as the fastest moving and most volatile element in emerging global crisis. He describes why he considers the Bush administration to have been guided by a certain energy realism lacking in too many social and climate activists. Finally, he describes why he thinks that multiple generations of mass affluence has left us saddled with a psycho-social debt that will be very difficult for us to discharge.
