Materiales con Cambio de Fase (PCM) y el metodo de Calor Latente, que permiten una regulacion eficiente del calor que aportan por la dinamica que  encierra su energia interna, con el cambio de estado en su materia (solido-liquido-solido).

Me gustaria llamarlo traduccion.. porque entrama lineas (o alineaciones) en la interdisciplina a condicion de terminos sustentables. 

 

Lo que aparece descrito como un "aporte" de Comfort adaptativo... es una precision muy representativa de una tendencia actual en los procesos de diseno (de productos) de corte tecnologico (high tech), dando respuestas innovadoras, generalmente muy bien aceptadas por el mercado. Y coincido porque sujeta el sublimado paradigma "Industrial" ("tradicional") en un despliegue de funciones orientadas, o disponibles, para configurar experiencias e imaginarios por sobre el desarrollo de una configuración basada los rasgos físicos de un producto, visualizados para ese escenario y relevantes a el. Así lo relata el articulo, "...a través de un nuevo proceso de ingeniería que es invisible y no tiene la menor influencia en el aspecto del material". En una premisa de sustentabilidad podria hablarse de una visión sistemica para solucionar una tarea de diseño.

 

Poder caracterizar elementos pensando en franco compromiso con el usuario, y por igual, en tendido nexo a una ciencia y tecnologia para la "inteligencia" de las cosas. a traves de un recurso de diseno tan importante  como lo es el Material,  encapsula grandiosos retos para la investigación científica, dada la necesaria internalizacion del  pensamiento creativo por parte del experto pero no es menos una  mirada enriquecida para el profesional de diseño, en ilimitadas configuraciones de escenarios... , lo que podría sublimarse de la configuración de rasgos físicos incluso  la forma "tradicional" de concebir nuestros productos, lo que  viene a  sinergia de esfuerzo humano productivo .

 

El reportaje reseña el diseno de una nueva aplicacion termoeficiente patentada por una empresa norteamericana de investigacion, desarrollo y diseno  de materiales (Outlast ); la novedad de este caso toma consistencia en el co-protagonista de esta historia que ha sido creado como una tecnologia  por matriz de  recubribrimiento, para controlar el almacenamiento y la trasnferencia de calor.  Los materiales por cambio de fase (PCM), se caracterizan por la regulacion termica que permite la dinamica de su energia interna, brindando  eficiente desmpeno. Desde el punto de vista sustentable,   este tipo de metodo es concido como calor latente, (alternativo al calor sensible), formas de eficiencia energitica.

1. Ciclico (Reciclaje y reuso) 

2. Solar (o Energia Alternativa) 

3. Seguro (no toxico, no contaminante)

4. Eficiencia energetica y fabril (la Reduccion...)

5. Social

 

Se reflexiona en la configuración del diseño en términos de manejo de materiales y la planificación, considerando su descarte o reinserción en un ciclo seguro, sean estos (televisores y equipos de sonido) productos mas sustentables que otros (componentes electronicos).

 

Conclusion:

Se trata de,  optimizar beneficios para la sociedad, para la economía, y para el ambiente.. Esta es la búsqueda en el valor agregado y la cuantía intangible  que supone y representa contratar a un diseñador! para desarrollar un producto "la actividad en diseño" no debería percibirse como el dibujo de planos y modelos volumetricos de fabricación, o deleitosas presentaciones fotorealistas para la aprobación y venta del diseño (lo que no es excluyente, y por igual superávit de esfuerzo y dedicacion). Es pues, buscar mejoras en la calidad de los productos orientado a Desempeño, Precio, y Ambiente. (performance, price and enviroment)

Several institutes have been developing robots that can climb walls - Stanford University's "Sticky-bot" can be seen in action here. Some scientists envisage "geckobots" being used to search for survivors in a burning building or disaster zone, to explore the rocky terrain of Mars, or even as toys.

 

Stanford University's Stickybot uses the principles of gecko climbing. But many in the field are most excited by more routine applications. Medicine is one target area for these adhesives. They could spawn advanced bandages that can be removed easily after healing or gripping surfaces on instruments designed for delicate surgery. Since the mechanism works in the wet, it could be used to affix implants within the body.

 

Stanislav Gorb, from the University of Kiel, studies biological adhesion; his work also looks at the way beetles stick to surfaces. He says gecko material has several advantages when compared with generic sticky tape. There is no "visco-elastic" adhesive to dry out, so it stays attached for longer and leaves no residue.

 

But he says that with current production methods, they are unlikely to replace classical sticky tape. "Maybe in 5-10 years we will have a method that will make the tape very cheap - right now it isn't. Secondly, right now, the forces are in the range or even lower than traditional sticky tape."

Hard, stable & durable. Hardness, density and dimensional stability similar or better than good quality hardwoods. The hardness of the high density version (9,5 kg/mm2 Brinell) is even superior to the hardest tropical hardwood species.

Application of MOSO Bamboo Tiger Panel may contribute to a higher BREEAM and LEED score.

Density: +/- 1050 kg/m3

Resistance to indentation in Brinell hardness is ≥ 9,5 kg/mm2 (EN 1534)

Formaldehyde emission is Class E1 (< 0,124 mg/m3)

Glue: D3 water resistant

 

The material is available in various sizes, and is intended for interior decoration, such as walls and ceilings, furniture, kitchens, tabletops and cabinet making.

Graphene 3D Lab Inc has announced its submission of a provisional patent application for innovations related to 3D printed batteries.

 

Calverton, New York based Graphene 3D Lab Inc. (TSXV:GGG.V) has announced its submission of a provisional patent application to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office regarding the company’s recent innovations related to printed batteries. 

 

The innovative company is specualted to be close to commercialising graphene-enhanced filaments that are compatible with current FDM / FFF 3D printers.  And the gyants Stratasys and Novato are involved.

BARAM's insight:

Technologies for energy storage has been and actually they are a big challenge to provide power in S ways (smarts, sustainables, etc ... path), at least, to replace the most conventional sources for electric power for consumption, overall displacing its fossil sources. For example, sunligth source and the wind  have been a paramount ground where to bring up ideas to live on this field.

 

But a big problem is still the costs and difficults to cycling implications in aspect of battery; we need to keep that energy gained for seize it in a concluding efficient managment  for its use in everyday lifes and activities.

 

This report brings up a new technology for batteries fabrication, made of Graphene. They remark the use of 3D printing for convenient fitting to the requirements and specifications of desing devices will in a wide range of variation and possibilities, for manning shape and size in the product which contains a battery fabricated by this way.

 

* Now, and again, advanced materials for capturing energy are a case of study. For example, it is said that Graphene is a mean to explore new application for PCM (Phase Change Materials).

The thermal analysis of paraffin wax in a box-type solar cooker

"In this study, the potential use and effectiveness of paraffin wax in solar cooker during the daylight and/or late evening hours is experimentally investigated.

 

For these experiments, a box-type solar cooker was constructed by filling paraffin wax with metal shavings. The side- and sub-surface temperatures of the paraffin wax in the cooker are continuously measured during June and July 2011. The effect of the reflector angle on the thermal efficiency of the cooker is tested with different isolation conditions on different days. In conclusion, the designed cooker can be effectively used at an angle of 30°. The thermal efficiency is increased to around 18.35% with the reflector. The maximum temperature of the paraffin achieved during the experiments is in the range of 75.1 °C to 80.5 °C. The reflected radiation makes a maximum contribution of 13.29% to the temperature of the paraffin wax. In addition, the heating time is decreased to approximately 1 h.

 

So, the paraffin wax could be used as a phase changematerial integrated with the solar system. The rectangular solar cooker filled with the paraffin wax has a high thermal performance, which is indicated by high temperatures and decreased cooking times, for the given design conditions."

INNOVACION A BAJO COSTO 

 

Producto desarrollado en Bangalore (quinta ciudad mas poblada de India, por la compañia GE healthcare. Incubadora con microclima para bebes. Costo US$3.000 en el país (70% mas barato ue los modelos tradicionales.

GE vende ahora cunas termicas en mas de 80 paises.

 

BEBES ENVUELTOS

 

Llamado "The Embrace" ("El Abrazo", en su traducción del inglés), este produto textil, surgió de una asignación de clase en el Instituto de Diseño de esta universidad en 2007.

 

"El Abrazo" requiere sólo 30 minutos de electricidad para funcionar y utiliza un calentador portátil que viene con el producto. Sin embargo, en los pueblos remotos, las mujeres, que dan a luz en casa, tienen poco acceso a una atención básica de salud o incluso a la electricidad.


El modelo ha resultado un prototipo con éxito y actualmente está en fase de pruebas clínicas en la India.

Sustainability to create habitat and Architechture, in social instances. Materials, human and natural resources..

This will be a tag to be used to approach differents doings and findings schemed above Sustainability, reported on the web, as theme for researching and recreate improvement states of habitat, architecture and building -or fabrication, in case of serial production and creation- in terms of System LEED certification. Sometime the criterium for curate the present space will be a perspective of product design, in a lifting of action in Industrial design.
