The Making of a Christmas Tree - Using recyclable items

The Making of a Christmas Tree - Using recyclable items | Parent Portal | Scoop.it

Panda Classroom

Protagonist: Madilyn Aderholt, Joshua Therrien, Aubree Jackson, Gracey Faison, Arik Nowatka, Eli Hodges, Carisa Mendoza

Teachers: Liliana Howard, Tracy Peoples

Red Ornaments: The children placed several white paper cup coffee creamers inside an empty coffee can container filled with paint. They took turns to shake the container until the paper cups were covered in paint. Next, they took turns to add red glitter. Once the ornaments were dried, Ms. Lili hooked paper clips on to the red ornaments for the children to hang on to the tree.

Yellow Star: The children inserted several bottle caps inside an empty coffee can container filled with paint. They took turns to shake the container until the bottle caps were covered in paint. Next, they took turns to add gold glitter. Once the bottle caps were dried, the children glued the caps on to a star that Ms. Lili had previously cut from a cardboard.

Pine Cones: The children took pieces of ribbon and wrapped them around the pine cones.

Gift Boxes: The children painted empty glove and tissue boxes.

Once the ornaments were dried and ready to be placed on the tree, the children took garland and played “follow the leader” as they moved around the Christmas tree. Some of the children hooked the red ornaments; some just placed them inside the leaves of the tree. Some children used gift bows to glue on to the boxes; some decided to insert them in to the boxes!

Kanga's Wacky Week 11-2-12

Kanga's Wacky Week 11-2-12 | Parent Portal | Scoop.it

This week we had our annual wacky week. The children loved coming in pajamas, wearing their favorite teams gear, coming to school with a wacky hair or hat, coming to school wearing 80's cloths, celebrating our friend's Karlo's birthday, and even our parade of costumes! Our little Kanga's loved marching around the school, having their pictures taken with their parents cheering them on. We learned that germs are not for sharing and proper hand washing techniques. We look forward to next week's adventures!

Kanga's Week 11-9-12

Kanga's Week 11-9-12 | Parent Portal | Scoop.it

This week has been full of fun and adventure!! We welcomed our new friend that speaks Finnish and had a visit from our friends with the big red trucks. We learned how they put on their gear, then we tried it out for size and had fun with it! We learned how feathers feel in and out of water and we decorated the letter "Y". We drew the number "10" using shaving cream!! Some of our little kangas' tried to imitate Daddy. Visiting our vegetable garden is so much fun even when we are burying our friend in the hay. Thursday we worked on our fine motor skills by cutting play dough. Friday we saw pinecones and decided to paint them purple and make pinecone stamps! Awaiting next weeks adventures!!!!!!
