Playlist: Games to Learn From as You Play – How We Get To Next

Playlist: Games to Learn From as You Play – How We Get To Next | Our Refugio | Scoop.it
That’s a shame. The key to learning new skills or knowledge is repetition, and games offer an easy way to create incentives for that repetition. (Just think how often “gameification” is used to try and fool people into thinking something like exercise is fun.) Often with games, the ones that are most successful at teaching players are those that are most subtle about it. They manage to make work feel like play.

Some interesting examples.

I'm not sure I agree with the introduction. The potential of using games for learning stretches far beyond repetition, however subtle. The games listed, however, looks great.

The evolution of the pronunciation of Byfuglien. | Markosun's Blog

The evolution of the pronunciation of Byfuglien. | Markosun's Blog | Our Refugio | Scoop.it
I just call him Buff. Dustin Ray Byfuglien (/baɪfuːɡliən/ by-FOO-glee-ən or local /ˈbʌflɨn/ BUF-lin;born March 27, 1985) is an American professional ice hockey player for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League.
Alice Wujciak's insight:

My last name is 'Wujciak'.  In Poland, that was a normally spelled word which anyone would easily pronounce as / vwi - chak /.

In the U.S. it evolved into / wu - jack /.  Read about Mr. Byfuglien's name.

Can you see that the pronunciation is not obvious, and depends upon the nationality? How would you say it? How might Mr. Byfuglien feel about that?

The Most Powerful Thing About You -- Your Story

The Most Powerful Thing About You -- Your Story | Our Refugio | Scoop.it

Do you participate in Social Networking?

"The most powerful thing about you is your story. But don't talk about yourself all the time; you'll be a bore.

Well, that all depends on whether it is all about you bring the "center of attention" or the "center or exposure". "Exposure" mesans being vulnerable and also being willing to be changed by the story. That is what this article is really all about.

The questions posed here will help you keep on track and avoid situations where you end ups telling your story from your ego instead of the place of service. It is a great checklist to keep in your back pocket."

LinkedIn raises its ad tech game, launches Audience Network across ‘tens of thousands’ of sites and apps | Our Refugio | Scoop.it
Facebook has set the pace for how social networks can grow their advertising revenues by leveraging advances and ad tech and the information that they collect about users and their interests through the social graph. Now LinkedIn — the career-focused social network owned by Microsoft with some 500 million registered users — is hoping to step up its game in ads and ad tech, too.

7 Content Marketing Trends You Should Be Following

7 Content Marketing Trends You Should Be Following | Our Refugio | Scoop.it
Twenty years ago, Bill Gates said that “content is king.” His words turned into a global motto for content marketers, SEO experts, and social media specialists. Are his words still valid today? We got rid of bad black hat link building strategies. We focused on good, relevant, high quality and shareable information. Thus, content as we know it is on top of its game.

The rise in technology put new marketing tools and platforms within our reach. It led content to become more than well-selected and well-presented words. It turned it into an instrument used to engage users, keep them close, and make them loyal to your brand.

Any business person knows that's it's often quite difficult to find good royalty-free images to use on a business website. Pixabay is a great resource. Just been through it briefly and I've already downloaded 2 or 3 images.
