What It Takes to Fully Engage Your Employees

What It Takes to Fully Engage Your Employees | Organisational Development | Scoop.it
Questions that chief executives — and others — ought to regularly ask themselves, not just to be good citizens, but as a powerful way to build competitive advantage.
Monica Ayers's insight:

I love the three powerful questions at the end of this article:

1. What is our noblest purpose and are we fulfilling it?

2. How can we give our employees a greater sense of meaning in what they do, so they feel more enthusiastic about coming to work every morning?

3. In what practical ways can we add more value in the world (and do less harm)?

Monica Ayers's insight:

Book review with a useful synopsis.  And I love this quote ...

"CEOs, team leaders, and everyone in between: if your people don’t love your company after four years of employment (or four months, or four quarters), that’s all on you… Do you have the pick of the employment litter? Are your best people dying to stay on board? If not, it isn’t that they’re ungrateful, and it isn’t that your competitors are luring them away. It’s that you suck as a leader… Act as if every single employee is a volunteer. Because you know what? In a fundamental way, they are."

Four Doors for Busy Non-Dummies (Learning 2.0)

Four Doors for Busy Non-Dummies (Learning 2.0) | Organisational Development | Scoop.it

This is why I love the Thialgi  4 door model "Training professionals are looking for, and learners are demanding, alternatives to what has become traditional eLearning—the PowerPoint slideshow souped up with an audio component. These programs are typically very linear and do not offer much control to the learner. If you are designing training for traditional play-by-the-book learners in their 40s and 50s, this is no problem. But if you are designing for learners who grew up with Nintendo, Playstations and MySpace—the Gen Y or Millennial crowd who put the chaos in EduChaos—your audience is going to grow bored quickly."

So I created one for the elearning showcase in Wellington on the 21st February. It was pretty easy and look forward to sharing on twitter and taking and sharing photos during the event. Only draw back is the Americanisation of the date. I like the fact I can have all of my events on the app and can share via social media during them. It's a great tool and really easy to use. Here's the one for the elearning showcase http://my.yapp.us/J9Y49R.
