Culture of IKEA is formed and developed in the shadow of the leader and his frugality (avoiding waste) approach. IKEA have done so well through the recession because of this culture as frugality is the main ingreedient to sustaining profit through rough economic times. A culture that emphasises cost control helps set the tone for management decision-making and helps employees know what is expected of them.

As google keep on increasing in size they have been thinking about a new approach to the culture. They used to have small teams which came up with different ideas but now the company has grown to much.

The company plans on being even more innovative and increase the amount of teams to come up with new ideas. But with these new ideas they need to come up with a way of turning idea into profit.

 

So therefore another reason for culture change is the company growing in size

One university claims to have generated so much new technology, with so many new firms and jobs, that if it were a country it would be the world's 11th biggest.

MIT estimated that 25,000 active firms have been founded by MIT graduates. The secret behind there success is in the culture of the place, as if in the bricks of the building. For 150 years, MIT has been about learning and doing, and for more than 100 years, its faculty members were spinning out their technology into companies.

Thousands of Kodak ex-workers in the UK will now benefit from the firm's global revenues after their pension fund bought its film and printing businesses.

Kodak still be selling scanners and printers while the pensioners fund will own a lot of there other assets, as they are helping them get out of bankruptcy. Also mensioned there plan for Kodak in a previous scoop a couple of weeks ago.

Dr complains about the staffing levels to higher managers and then she was bullied by a manager, told she was mentally ill, falsely accused of being abusive, and then she was suspended. Patients obviously werent the higher managers priority.

Eastman Kodak says it expects to exit bankruptcy as early as July in its new guise as a commercial imaging firm.

Kodac coming out of bankrupt hopefully. After making mager mistakes in culture before hand and not being innovative enough and listening to workers lower down the business. Going into a different product area which doesn't quite need to be as innovative as the previous product area. Still will they learn from there mistakes?

Yahoo has had many CEOs that have all tried several times to change strategic direction through new leadership but has struggled to compete with Google in search engine and email.

 

However the new CEO, former Google director Marissa Mayer appears to be working, and Yahoo's share price has risen 30% since her appointment and for the first time in four years, Yahoo's revenues are now growing.
