Granola- Between the fat and the sugar, granola is a calorie-dense food, where the energy is a quick kind of false energy from the sugar.

Flavored yogurt- Nonfat individual cup of yogurt has 17 grams of sugar, which in comparison, is a little less than a single serving of Haagen-Dazs strawberry ice cream, which has 20 grams.

Vitamin Water- Most Vitamin Water flavors have upwards of 31 grams of sugar, which is almost eight teaspoons of sugar.

7 Good Eating Habits


1) Eat five or six meals: A nutritious meal or snack every three hours keeps blood sugar levels stable, feeds your body a steady stream of nutrients and helps control cravings for sweets and fats.

2) Power every meal with protein: Protein builds muscle, and muscle burns calories, even at rest. Add some turkey, chicken, beef, eggs or cottage cheese to your meals.

3) Diversify your carbohydrates: Eat a variety of carbs, including potatoes, brown rice, pasta, vegetables. But don’t eat more than 2 or 3 grams per pound of body weight.

4) Make it snappy: If you’re pressed for time, make yourself this simple meal: A 4 oz. chicken breast, a small baked potato and a salad. You can cook them the night before and take them to work on the next day.

5) Drink up: Get at least 10 cups of water per day. Your body cannot efficiently change carbs into energy without water.

6) Start right: Your first meal of the day, and post workout, should contain your largest carb intake.

7) Finish light: Your last meal should have protein as a main ingredient, and it can include “wet” carbs such as cucumbers, leafy green salads, tomatoes and steam asparagus.

There is a study cited that test subjects were assigned diets and the average LDL levels ( bad cholestero) had fallen by 7.4 mg/dL in the low fat without avocado group and 8.3 mg/dL in the moderate-fat without avocado group. However, those participants on the moderate-fat diet with avocado had the largest change in bad cholesterol. Their average LDL level fell by 13.5 mg/dL, the researchers found.
