Read more about the Hiranandani Hospital's CEO, and 4 other doctors who were all arrested this last week in Mumbai India as the result of an ongoing investigation into organ trafficking.

It is also becoming evident that some of the live kidney donors involved in this may be poor villagers from rural India-

One of the drivers for organ trafficking is the low deceased donor rate in India, the reasons for which are summarisedIm in this online article-

Under Indian law organ trafficking is now illegal. Should it be proven that any of these individuals broke the law, the penalties will be severe. Meanwhile there continue to be ongoing campaigns (including via social media) to try and raise public awareness about the importance of organ donation.
