8 Psychological Principles to Make a Memorable Presentation

8 Psychological Principles to Make a Memorable Presentation | OPERACIONES INDUSTRIALES | Scoop.it
We all have experienced our fair share of bad presentations. A colleague steps up to the front of the room. He or she presents. We all fall asleep. It’s the plague of the current business landscape.

Why is it this way?

Most presenters are neglectful of how individuals learn. A few years ago, a research team led by Stephen Kosslyn and comprised of experts from Stanford, the University of Amsterdam, and Harvard made it a mission to unpack how presenters could improve in the art of public speaking. What they discovered were 3 steps that go into receiving and digesting information from a presentation:

Looking at Porter's strategies in a different way, in 1996, Cliff Bowman and David Faulkner developed Bowman's Strategy Clock. This model of corporate strategy extends Porter's three strategic positions to eight, and explains the cost and perceived value combinations many firms use, as well as identifying the likelihood of success for each strategy. Figure 1 below, represents Bowman's eight different strategies that are identified by varying levels of price and value.

Reverse urbanization, end of parking are some of the ways autonomous cars may change our lives. What would the impact on business be? Continuous delivery, where delivery vans make delivery routes 24-7?Predictive support, where support personnel are dispatched throughout an area where their service may be needed in the future, working in the car in between jobs?Warehouse on wheels, with high velocity items made available for order online and delivery in minutes?Travelling office, where sales team work out of small vans as they travel from one client to the next?
Mark Muller's curator insight, October 19, 2014 7:26 PM

I think autonomous (self-driving) cars will be the next major revolution in real estate. An autonomous campervan or bus could easile be converted into a mobile office or retail shop, eliminating the need for leasing a fixed tenancy.

Imagine a small office could be totally run from a moving bus, even picking up employees from home or train stations and transporting them to meetings as others work inside.

Maybe future landlords will lease both fixed and mobile property?

Twitter and other SMM tools work because the exposure opens up a gateway to like-minded communities. Within a week of taking it up seriously I was able to list Publishers, writers, authors, SMM specialists, designers for Book covers, editors and journalists and filter Scoop and Swayy sites for interesting content. This would not have been possible otherwise. At the same time, communication with serious followers enables rapid growth of followers.

This is a much better way of creating and exhibiting a social presence, rather than buying a block of followers for a price with almost all of them in an unknown category. What will you do with a Tower of Babel? Numbers don't mean much if its properly organised and managed.

Thanks to all my followers for the follow and I do do hope to help in your own publicity.   @GassMarshall

7 Habits of the Most Joyful People in the Office

7 Habits of the Most Joyful People in the Office | OPERACIONES INDUSTRIALES | Scoop.it

Want to change your mood around the office? It all starts with your actions.

Smile when you walk in the door and people will know you are ready to get things done. Look down at the floor and smirk at people waiting for that morning meeting and you're giving them the message that you'll be hiding in your cubicle all day. Sometimes, seemingly trivial facial expressions, minor activities, and routine habits can reveal your mood. But these habits can do more than just reveal your mood; they can also dictate your mood.

The best way to change your attitude, experience more joy in your work life, and spread a little of that happiness around the office is to adopt habits that foster a better mood. Sure, we all get a little cranky about the Starbucks barista who scoffed at the stain on our shirt or the taxi driver who smelled like yesterday's pizza. No worries. Try a few of these activities and develop habits to increase your happiness during the day.

5 Things You Can Do To Improve Your Relationship With Your Boss (And Your Next Boss) | OPERACIONES INDUSTRIALES | Scoop.it

“The most important driver of employee engagement is the relationship they have with their immediate manager,” says Piera Palazzolo, Senior Vice President of Dale Carnegie Training. She says the most successful relationships are those where bosses and employees really get to know one another.

“That’s different from years ago, when you were supposed to ask any personal questions. Those lines are blurred now, people want you to care about them, particularly if there’s something going on in their lives that might affect their performance.”

1) Find out exactly what your boss wants, and understand the pressure they’re working under.
