Penguin is to SEO as kind of like Jason Voorhees, if you will. It's very scary, and it comes around every now and then and slices and dices websites. But Panda is more, in my opinion, kind of like Freddy Krueger. He's always kind of there in the background, in your nightmares, waiting to strike at any site, whether they think they're breaking the rules or not.

Wal-Mart Makes A Big Mistake By Not Offering Free Shipping

Wal-Mart Makes A Big Mistake By Not Offering Free Shipping | onlineincomejobs.com | Scoop.it

Summary

- 83% of consumers want free shipping for online shopping.

- Target, Best Buy, and Amazon all have free shipping programs for the holidays.

- Wal-Mart is denying customers the one thing they want.

This holiday season, online shopping will be bigger than ever. FedEx (NYSE:FDX) expects to deliver 317 million boxes between Black Friday and Christmas Eve, an increase of 12.4% over the same period last year. Meanwhile, brick-and-mortar sales are expected to grow only by 2.4%.

This article contrasts the Wal-Mart mindset with that of its close competitors Target (NYSE:TGT), Best Buy (NYSE:BBY), and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN). The thesis of this article is that Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) is under-investing in the online segment for the all-important holiday season by not matching the free shipping policies of its major competitors. This is consistent with the company's misguided mindset of over-investment in stores and under-investment in E-Commerce....

I come across business owners everyday who struggle with using social media in their business’ marketing plan. I eat, live and breathe it so it’s like second-nature to me, however most business owners are focused on what their business does, whether it be food or clothes or B2B services.

How To Write Blog Headlines People Will Actually Click On [Report] | onlineincomejobs.com | Scoop.it

Your headline is the first contact with your content, and must grab your target audiences’ attention. At this point you have no control – the reader does. They either click the link to your content or they don’t. The job of the content creator is to make sure that they choose the first option, and read and share your carefully crafted content.

11 Things Ultra-Productive People Do Differently

11 Things Ultra-Productive People Do Differently | onlineincomejobs.com | Scoop.it

When it comes to productivity, we all face the same challenge--there are only 24 hours in a day.

Yet some people seem to have twice the time; they have an uncanny ability to get things done. Even when juggling multiple projects, they reach their goals without fail.

"Time is really the only capital that any human being has, and the only thing he can't afford to lose." --Thomas Edison

We all want to get more out of life. There's arguably no better way to accomplish this than by finding ways to do more with the precious time you've been given.

It feels incredible when you leave the office after an ultra-productive day. It's a workplace high that's hard to beat.

With the right approach, you can make this happen every day.

You don't need to work longer or push yourself harder--you just need to work smarter.

Why Link Building Is NOT the Future of SEO - QuickSprout

Why Link Building Is NOT the Future of SEO - QuickSprout | onlineincomejobs.com | Scoop.it
By no means am I saying that you should ignore SEO. Optimizing your code for search engines, building links when you have spare time, and growing your social media channels are all activities you should continually do.

But they shouldn’t be your main focus.

You should be shifting the majority of your focus to building a great product or service as that is what users want. And when you aren’t building, you should be creating great content.

You need to provide content so great that people will want to not only read it but also bookmark it, share it, and tell their friends about it. Your content should be so detailed and helpful that no competitor would dare to copy you as it would take too much time and energy.

In addition, you should be signing up for Google Webmaster Tools and continually analyzing your click-through rates. You can get this data by clicking on “search traffic” in the navigation bar and then clicking on “search analysis.”

Wearing a Suit Makes People Think Differently

Wearing a Suit Makes People Think Differently | onlineincomejobs.com | Scoop.it

A new study looks specifically at how formal attire changes people's thought processes. “Putting on formal clothes makes us feel powerful, and that changes the basic way we see the world,” says Abraham Rutchick, an author of the study and a professor of psychology at California State University, Northridge. Rutchick and his co-authors found that wearing clothing that’s more formal than usual makes people think more broadly and holistically, rather than narrowly and about fine-grained details. In psychological parlance, wearing a suit encourages people to use abstract processing more readily than concrete processing.

Innovation is a paradox for most of us. On the one hand, you are well aware that you have to take new roads before you reach the end of the present dead end street. On the other hand, it is risky. Get Your Message Across to a Skeptical Audience

Get Your Message Across to a Skeptical Audience | onlineincomejobs.com | Scoop.it

Persuasion researchers know that decision-makers will often place their faith less in what is being said, and more in who is saying it. For good reason–following a trusted authority often reduces feelings of uncertainty. In today’s constantly changing business environment, it’s increasingly the messenger that carries sway, not the message. Therefore, it’s crucial that you convince your audience you have the necessary expertise to make a recommendation – which can present problems if you lack credibility. You need to be seen as competent and knowledgeable, yet recounting a list of your accomplishments, successes and triumphs, however impressive, will do little to endear you to others. No one likes a braggart. But arranging for someone to do it on your behalf can be a remarkably efficient tactic in overcoming the self-promotion dilemma.

Why These Unique & Creative Text-Focused Websites Will Inspire You

Why These Unique & Creative Text-Focused Websites Will Inspire You | onlineincomejobs.com | Scoop.it

Typography is an important but often under-represented part of a website's layout. With so much focus being placed on the presentational aspects of CSS and the use of large images and media that choke bandwidth restraints; it’s nice to occasionally remember that textual content can also make an impact on users and their experience. Content remains king, and a few good fonts can make even the simplest of sites look smart - though not so many that you have to wait for ages for the text to be visible.

Because of this, I’m going to show you a few handpicked examples of sites that make their content look terrific, and why you should consider following their example in your own work. We’re going to take a journey of how elegant typography can make a site shine; looking at the bold, creative, navigational, simplistic and interactive content that makes the designer's voice speak volumes - so let’s get started!...

Making Sense of Zappos’ War on Managers

Making Sense of Zappos’ War on Managers | onlineincomejobs.com | Scoop.it

No matter how good a leader’s intention, how strong their track record, how smooth their style, leadership will still generate ambivalence. Unless they are able to work with that ambivalence, leaders often either try to suppress any opposition, becoming de facto fundamentalists, or give up. This is a common characteristic of self-organizing systems. They are often ruthless and easily become tribal. You are either “one of us,” if not demographically at least ideologically, or you’re too weak and boring to stay. Here is your check and best of luck.

Here are 8 tips that can make the difference with your Pinterest posting.

Santiaga Rodriguez 's curator insight, May 12, 2015 8:52 PM

Pinterest was named the social network to watch in 2015. From this blog by simply measured  it gives a solid guide to making Pinterest for you. From making sure you use the right key words to "repinning" to gain followers and searches. A few of the tips I found to be the most effective were running a cross channel campaign; using your other social media outlets to get your page attraction. My favorite was # 5, " ditch the salesy schtick" aka dont be pushey- if people like your content, they will view and hopefully share your page!

This blog page is targeted obviously to business owners who want to use Pinterest to reach a certain target audience. That is the most positive thing about the site, it is very easy to get who you want to see your content, to view it. Based on what you post, where, when and especially key words you use, you can almost be guaranteed views, and by continuing to post similar things that got said views, followers, and in this case the more re-pinning the better. You want the viewers you seek out to share and show others- creating a snowball affect and hopefully proving effective.
