Breaking News: FTC Clears Google of Antitrust Violations

Breaking News: FTC Clears Google of Antitrust Violations | Online Marketing Topics | Scoop.it
After a 2-year long investigation, the FTC has finally issued a ruling on Google's alleged antitrust law violations.
Network Marketing Local's insight:

The FTC’s ruling has finally been handed down for the highly publicized 2-year probe into Google’s possible antitrust violations. The allegation was that Google strangled free market competition by rigging the SERPs to highlight its own products (local, travel, and shopping listings in particular). On Thursday, the agency’s members unanimously voted to drop all antitrust charges against Google.

The ruling was a huge win for the search giant, with a modest amount of collateral damage. The only harm done to Google? A slap on the wrist and a few concessions that involved nothing more than tweaking some of their existing business practices.

Google Adds Some Subtle Color to its Maps

Google Adds Some Subtle Color to its Maps | Online Marketing Topics | Scoop.it
Google has tweaked its basemap, adding color to indicate general vegetation trends and terrain textures.

Google Maps has gotten a fresh new look, adding some “visual improvements” to its design.

The application now lets users get a clearer view of natural geography by showing terrain and color gradations to illustrate vegetation. It also includes labels for natural land formations.

Its goal is to further buttress Google Maps as the most complete and accurate global mapping service, Schmidt added.

He then posted some examples of Maps before and before the makeover:
