Pamela Hills's curator insight, April 9, 2014 10:06 AM

People do your research into 'COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS " From what I have read about it stand up and say know ! To me is like China, Former Soviet Union and what Hitler had incorporated in schools ! We need good old fashion education it can be high tech sure . But the art of teaching and exciting young minds to learn are being taken over by Government make no mistake it is the core beliefs they want taught and will punish a school and teacher if not implemented . I do not know which is worse "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND" or this to make sure they all march in straight line ! <3

Jeroen Bottema's curator insight, August 23, 2013 11:13 AM

"

Laurillard (1993,2002) claims that there are four main aspects of the teaching-learning process and that different educational media can be analyzed (and used) in terms of these dimensions.

This framework can be considered both learning theory and a practical framework for designing educational environments. Higher education, according to Laurrillard is much about acquiring "ways of seeing the world". Associated pedagogic strategy has to consider different forms of communication and associated mental activities: Discussion, adaptation, interaction, reflection."

Here is a great poster that you may want to share with students. It provides eighteen ideas on how a student may become more independent. A few of the ways are listed below:

* Question the question. Is there another way to look at it?

* Help support and advise your peers.

* Sketch it out.

* Own your learning

The future of learning - Sugata Mitra

The future of learning - Sugata Mitra | online learning conversation | Scoop.it

In this talk, Sugata Mitra will take us through the origins of schooling as we know it, to the dematerialisation of institutions as we know them. Thirteen years of experiments in children's education takes us through a series of startling results – children can self-organise their own learning, they can achieve educational objectives on their own, they can read by themselves. Finally, the most startling of them all: groups of children with access to the internet can learn anything by themselves. From the slums of India, to the villages of India and Cambodia, to poor schools in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, the USA and Italy, to the schools of Gateshead and the rich international schools of Washington and Hong Kong, Sugata's experimental results show a strange new future for learning.

Education 3.0 and the Pedagogy (Andragogy, Heutagogy) of Mobile Learning

Education 3.0 and the Pedagogy (Andragogy, Heutagogy) of Mobile Learning | online learning conversation | Scoop.it

Many educators are doing Education 1.0; talking about doing Education 2.0; when they should be planning and implementing Education 3.0. This post compares the developments of the Internet-Web to those of education. The Internet has become an integral thread of the tapestries of most societies throughout the globe. The web influences people’s way of thinking, doing and being; and people influence the development and content of the web.

 This education 3.0 concept combined with Keegan's levels of Ego Development should help educators and students in their question for glory.

Special thanks to Feed the Teacher (Giselle Santos) for sharing this diagram originally posted by Dr. Jackie Gerstein.

The one point I really like is the definition of Education 3.0 - planning and implementing education.  The key is being thoroughly infused and reinvented.

Jeremiah Stanley's curator insight, August 6, 2014 3:16 PM
