With ongoing training in weapons such as guns, mortars, rockets and missiles  we always look danger in the eye. Recently we were trained in explosives.

 

There is also lots of physical demand on your body as you jump out your the truck to unhitch your cannon and dig it into the ground ready for combat.

 

We are the first in line if war was to break out. So it's important that our approach to the front line is always well planned and prepared for landing and to ensure our safety.

Cleaner

A contractor cleaner works alone and may encounter multiple risks it is essential that the cleaner is advised of these risks.

 

Its crucial that a cleaner wears non slip shoes and that wet signs are present when cleaning floors to warn others of the risk of wet floors.

 

Safety Hazard such as damage electrical cords on vacuum cleaners or floor polisher must be tagged and repaired by licensed electrician before use.

 

It is essential that chemicals in your daily task are labeled with a material safety data sheet to ensure no irritation to the skin, eyes, lungs over short and long periods of time .

As an administrator its important to ensure that you check your ergonomic set up daily. I have suffered from bursitis just recently and it has been very painful it took almost 6 months to correct.

 

It is crucial that electrical goods are tagged and tested before use  in the office and that all walk and door ways are free from clutter and trip hazards.

 

When using the printer it is important to have the ceiling fan on to ensure that no ink dust is inhaled and that there is a fire protection sheet against any wall to ensure it does not heat up.

A very fulfilling role that comes with very big challenges at the best of times.

 

Jamie's insight:

As soon as a home carer moves into their clients home it becomes our workplace.

 

It is very important that your aware of your home inventory as these are tools that you will use to help you in your chores such as  cleaning,  mowing lawns and many more odd jobs that clients just can't do due to their disability.

 

It is also important to be aware of any mental health that your client may have and report any verbal or physical abuse immediately.
