Which Fruits Have the Most Sugar? | Care2 Healthy Living

Which Fruits Have the Most Sugar? | Care2 Healthy Living | Healthy Eating News | Scoop.it
Fruit is an important, and delicious, part of our diet. Full of fiber, antioxidants and other phytochemicals, fresh fruit is a great source of sustainable

Did you know that different kinds of fruit have differing amounts of sugar, the sweet poison? There are certain medical doctors who say that the fructose in fruit, especially from the berry family doesn’t cause or lead to the debilitating health issues that other forms of sugar do. This is because of the fiber content in fruit.

Yet there is a growing body of wellness doctors and certain hospitals that advocate for minimizing the consumption of fruit and recommend eating the seeds of fruit instead and also eating low sugar fruits which most people refer to as veggies.

If you are relatively healthy then a little whole raw fruit is considered fine to eat. However if you have a chronic disease then eating fruit is not recommended by these professionals.

Health Tips:

You decide for yourself for your body. Consuming one small bowl of berries or one other fruit of your choice a few times a week or everyday might be fine, especially if you are refraining from eating any processed, junk sugary foods.

Even though pomegranate is listed in the last group of fruits having highest sugar content, it usually is okay to eat because you’re sucking on the seeds, not eating any pulp. Many times pomegranates are sweet, but other times they are tart like cranberries. The tart ones are very good for you.

Consuming low sugar fruits like lemons, limes, avocados, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, cranberries (without added sugar), and rhubarb (without added sugar) is fine anytime.

Did you know that synthetic, artificial, chemical, medications, antibiotics, drugs, sweet poisons, and animal based food can decimate your gut microbiome? The gut bacteria in your body doesn’t respond well to anything made in a lab and/or inflammatory.

The human body hasn’t changed much from its evolutionary times when plant food ruled. Your cave ancestors ate tubers, seeds, fruit, greens for the most part.

Health tips:
The bacteria in your gut feed on plant based fiber. By consuming fresh produce you are feeding your bacteria what they thrive on. Fresh real whole greens, veggies, fruit are the prebiotic.

Consuming fermented live cultures also give your body probiotics. You can also take high quality probiotic supplements from a trusted company.

Did you know that plant based omega 3 fatty acids are needed for your body to maintain a healthy balanced weight? One of the best omega 3s is purslane, a wild edible.

Exercise and getting 7-9 hours sleep every night is essential as well.

Health tips:

Consume sprouts and wild plants (sometimes referred to as weeds). Think dandelion, purslane, mustard greens, and others. Even wild berries are preferable as fresh fruits in season.

Study: Low-Carb Mediterranean Diet Beats Low-Fat Diet for Heart Health

Study: Low-Carb Mediterranean Diet Beats Low-Fat Diet for Heart Health | Healthy Eating News | Scoop.it
In a recent study, researchers compared a Mediterranean low-carb diet with a low-fat diet in moderately obese individuals to find that the low-carb diet was better for heart health. Over the course of 18 months, 80 participants were randomly assigned one of the two diets–a Mediterranean style low-carbohydrate diet plus 28 grams of walnuts per day and a calorically equal low-fat diet. The mean age of the participants was 48 and their mean BMI was 31 percent. Both groups had some moderate weight loss but the low-carb group lost more waist circumference, which is important for lowering risks associated with heart disease. The low-carb group also improved their cholesterol levels and had a reduction in pericardial adipose tissue, which is fat that can gather on the heart, increasing heart disease risks. The researchers concluded in their study abstract that “The Mediterranean diet, rich in unsaturated fats and restricted carbohydrates, is

Odds are pretty good that you have consumed a food or beverage item in the past 24 hours containing some sort of “natural flavors.” In fact, there’s a non-zero chance you are ingesting one right now.
