How hard was it to find a job? It was very easy to find a place to work, most RNs just basically choose where they want to live and then decide based on the different pays that they can get at different places and then choose from there.
Brendan Eric Karnbauer's comment, March 19, 2013 2:07 PM
What is a normal day on the job? This sounds like a tv show but there really is no normal day on the job. One of the best things about it is that there is always something different happening and you always have to be on your toes to see whats happening next.
Brendan Eric Karnbauer's comment, March 19, 2013 2:09 PM
When you come out of school how ready are you to take on a day by your self? With all of the hands on practice that you receive from schooling you are fairly prepared to do things on your own. The only difference is that every hospital is different with regards to where things are and their different protocols for different situations.

Healthcare Reform Offers Opportunities for Nurses

Healthcare Reform Offers Opportunities for Nurses | Nursing Aspect Three | Scoop.it
Many see the signing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as a bright day for nursing, pointing to provisions in the legislation providing for more funding for nurse education; more research and programs for safety and quality; more...
Brendan Eric Karnbauer's insight:

All of the things pointed out in the healthcare bill are only speculations and to get the funding that the nursing associations need to get more jobs and increase the quality of care for people will all need to be approved by congress.

The real reason for the bill is to reach out to low income families that can not afford insurance with the amount of money that they are making. This is a huge point in the bill that will be opening up a wide variety of jobs. Nursing jobs will become more visiting centered and will be going out to communities that are low income and giving them different preventative medicines and other needs that they might have.
Brendan Eric Karnbauer's comment, March 19, 2013 1:41 PM
With these new laws new facilities will be opening up and less people will be going directly to the emergency room leaving them for more serious cases and giving the patients who truly need emergency help the primary role in the ERs.
Brendan Eric Karnbauer's comment, March 19, 2013 1:45 PM
Another aspect that will be taught in all schools more and more is the need for emergency preparedness. If nurses are going to be in different neighborhoods and in these different facilities they will need to be prepared to see and treat anything that they are faced with. With the lessening of doctors to be in charge the nurses will have to be prepared and know how to handle different situations.

Health Care Reform Law

Brendan Eric Karnbauer's insight:

This bill is going to not only change the way that nurses run it will also change the skills and competition that typical nurses will have. This bill is going to increase the funding provided to nursing institutions for specifically masters programs in nursing.

Brendan Eric Karnbauer's comment, March 19, 2013 1:27 PM
The bill is specifically hitting the masters program for more funding towards it but it is also increasing the amount of grants that will be offered to students who will be going into the nursing field.

5 Ways the Nursing Field Is Changing - University of Phoenix | Nursing Aspect Three | Scoop.it
Nurses have much more responsibility than they did 30 years ago and now often need at least a bachelor’s degree to land a job.
Brendan Eric Karnbauer's insight:

Nurses are going to be getting more responsibilities because in the health care bill it says that patients will be getting more care and lower cost because of that and this job will likely fall to the nurses to watch over that.

Brendan Eric Karnbauer's comment, March 18, 2013 10:07 PM
In the new health care bill a significant part of it is trying to help people who are already sick to keep them from getting diseases or other sicknesses so the nurses now will be putting a lot of effort into prevention of other sicknesses.
