(Stuff.co.nz) - So-called freedom campers could soon face hefty fines for setting up camp in areas without adequate toilet facilities, with locals sick and tired of the rubbish and human waste left by the budget-conscious travellers. Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) is working with the Department of Internal Affairs to try and come up with a solution.

They stole the hearts of the New Zealand public last year by going through the Football World Cup unbeaten and tonight the All Whites stole the show at the 58th Halberg Awards, scoring a hat-trick of prizes.

The All Whites won 2010 Team of the Year, Coach of the Year and the overall Halberg award.

New Zealand's most sought after sporting honour hadn't ever been awarded to the code of football, since its inception in 1949.

Via TVNZ News: Television remains one of New Zealand's most loved past times with the average Kiwi spending 202 minutes per day in front of the box.

In 2010 an additional 31,000 people tuned in with almost 75% of the population now engaging with television on a daily basis.

And Kiwis are now watching television for longer than they used to. ThinkTV said people are watching 20% more than they did in 2007 and nearly three million New Zealanders are now watching television every single day.

Roy Morgan Research said television is one of the only mediums not to have lost audience to the rise in online media consumption.

Via Newstalk ZB: Central District Police have arrested numerous people and seized large amounts of drugs, cash and other property during a North Island wide operation.

One hundred staff across five police districts are involved in today's sting against gangs, methamphetamine and organised crime.

It is believed members of the Australian bikie gang, the Rebels, are among those targeted in the sting.

Via NZ Herald: Telecom, the country's second biggest listed company, reported a 32 per cent slide in first-half profit as earnings shrank in its fixed, mobile and data businesses.

The Auckland-based company reported a net profit of $165 million in the six months ended December 31, compared to $243 million a year earlier, coming in slightly short of brokers' expectations.

What the survey showed was a surprising lack of awareness of security issues among the respondents. For instance, just 4% admitted to being fully informed about security breaches within their organizations.

The scheme saw Fijian immigrants pay thousands of dollars for bogus work visas to work on dairy farms. A former employee says she was aware of at least 17 workers caught up in the scam.
