Reflections on the Year in the Flipped Class | Flipped Learning

And the flipped class has changed. I don’t want to belabor this point since it has been talked about in many other places. But in short, we realize that the flipped class is NOT just about the videos. In fact, the flipped class is so much more than the videos. If you want to know how our thinking about the flipped class has changed, I would read the “Flipped Class Manifesto” which was co-authored by many of the pioneers in the flipped class movement.

There Are No Technology Shortcuts to Good Education « Educational Technology Debate | new-teaching-with-technology | Scoop.it

I’ve so far argued that technology in education has a poor historical record; that computers in schools typically fail to have positive impact (with the rare exceptions occurring only in the context of competent, well-funded schools); that information technology is almost never worth its opportunity cost; and that quality education doesn’t require information technology.

 

Unfortunately, all of this evidence doesn’t provide the gut intuition required to reject seductive rhetoric. So, I end with a point-by-point refutation of frequently heard sound bites extolling technology in schools.

The National Academies Press is the publishing arm of the National Academies and publishes reports from the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council. There are over 200 books per year published a topics ranging from science to engineering and health and even Education.

 

There is currently over 4000 titles available in PDF format and they can now all be downloaded for free, either by chapter or by entire book.
