Anatomy of a Sample: The Legal Complexities Behind Hip-Hop's Creative Backbone | New Music Industry | Scoop.it
One of hip-hop’s greatest musical legacies is its use of sampling as a creative technique. For labels, publishers and other rights holders, however, the rise of sampling also potentially poses a legal nightmare.

This scoop is very helpful when it comes down to using samples. i have noticed a lot of the hip hop era uses samplings even til this day but no one really knows what has to be one in the background. To counter-suit copy write infringement can be tough when you cant get all signatures for the paper work to cleared. some big labels like Warner/Chappell won't even sign off. this can hurt the upcoming artist in the  long run when  they aren't able to release a dope track. sampling helped shape hip hop but it can also cause damage if the paper work isn't put behind it.

This is a great buy by apple music. Apple now has the ability to lead Shazam users straight to apple music. As users find new music apple can give them a link straight to that song on there platform. Apple can also take the data from Shazam and use it to see what people are listening too.

I believe this can be a game changer for upcoming artist. This will allow artist to save money on a third party service to get their music on a major platform. This source is a major information resource.
Taylor Newsom's curator insight, October 13, 3:08 PM
Spotify has made a strong arm power play against Amazon, Google, Apple Music and major labels narrowing the gap between consumers and creators by allowing artists to upload their songs directly to their platform. This is huge. Right now this feature is by invite only meaning that Spotify, in a sense, is taking on the role of not only a tastemaker, but in some capacities as an A&R for up and coming talent. This as another power grab against major labels for the enterprise of streaming music giants.

Once again, Music Business Worldwide is both an authoritative and objective source of what's happening in the music industry on several fronts from business, financial, to entertainment news. It provides unbiased information and has no monetary incentive to take sides. It is most certainly one of the preeminent gatekeepers of music industry related topics.
illy GOAT's curator insight, November 10, 12:18 PM
This seems very liberating for a artist who just wants to share there work and be heard. Spotify is such a huge platform with millions of consumers. I don't know what the future hold with this, but I find it very interesting.
