Watch Out, Pandora: Apple’s Streaming Radio Service Could Launch In Early 2013 | TechCrunch | New Music Industry | Scoop.it

Winston Mills's curator insight, July 15, 2013 11:33 PM

If Apple truly does decide to become a music streaming radio service, it could definitely be a major game changer. The article says, "it is expected to be the best internet radio ever," and I completely agree with that statement. Apple probably wouldn't have to abide by any licensing agreements with skipping songs, so that would make the listener or subscriber very happy. Again, if Apple does this, they will be number one, and very successful in this venture, as they are exceptionally successful in all things media driven.

Kyle Walker's curator insight, July 20, 2014 4:17 PM

Its interesting to see how iTunes will compete with Pandora. Letting the subscriber be able to skip songs continuously without stoping them is a big step forward in online radio. The article does not explain how money will get distributed. It kind of scares me to see how powerful this radio will be. It might even destroy digital downloads all together it says in the last paragraph.

Tiffani Tran's curator insight, November 7, 2014 5:51 PM

I don't think Pandora will be in competition with Apple's Streaming Radio because Pandora has been out way longer and is more known in my opinion. But Apple's Streaming Radio will probably be providing a little more than what Pandora has to offer. I honestly choose Pandora over Apple Streaming to explore my music and hearing new things than just what i know.

Considering that this information is from billboard.com I would think that the information is valid and that professionals would look at this information on a regular basis. In my opinion, this information on new outlets and companies is very valuable. This article talks about the use of this app being opened up warner music group the app is based in Africa it reaches to several different places in Africa including Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and Tanzania. The good thing about this is that many artists in Africa will be able to have their music on a platform that is known worldwide. The other side of this could be that some users may not like the changes happening with the companies app.

This source is reliable because of its background as a company and the use of citations and links that show exactly where the information and data came from. In this article, it talks about three companies that are representing audio streaming apps in Brussels. They plan on representing the European digital music industry together. I think that this source would be looked at by professionals and used to find out information on changing trends and movements that are occurring in the industry globally. On one hand, they are seen as an outlet for European music but it can also be seen as the three companies overshadowing other companies in Europe.

YouTube wants to launch a competitor to the streaming powerhouse Spotify. YouTube’s ‘Remix,’ is scheduled to launch in march with negotiations with Vevo set to begin around the same time. I think that this is a interesting move by YouTube because i wonder how much the YouTube red service sales and community feedback led to the decision to make its own music streaming service. The source being musicbusinessworldwide.com  led by well known music commentator Tim Ingham in 2015. One of the more newer music industry website i would consider this a major informational resource for audio industry professionals because the report and analyze many different topics that are happening around the world of the music industry.

When the second most non game app downloaded in Russia is a music streaming service you tend to see how fast the popularity music streaming has grown in the last ten years. The source is the incredibly reliable billboard.com which has been one of the most used source of information in the music industry for decades now. I would definitely consider this to be a valuable source for a major informational resource.

This article has citations and it has links to where the information came from. This article is written to inform people about the change that might occur with the owner of the app Musical.ly.  I think that professionals may look at this topic but might not use this source frequently. However, there is a news lin in this article so it seems to be a reliable source for information. This article talks about the deal being made between Beijing Bytedance Technology and the founders of Musical.ly. Luis Yang and Alex Zhu. The good thing about this is that it will help another company to grow but the con to this is that the initial company loses its app that helped them to gain recognition in the industry.
