South Africa: Role and future of public radio dissected at Joburg Radio Days | New Media |

“You can’t talk about how to run a Spaza shop if you haven’t run a Spaza shop,” were the first words of the acting COO (chief operating officer) of the SABC, Hlaudi Motsoeneng, as he launched into a defence of the public broadcaster against criticisms made by his co-panelists during the opening session of the conference taking place at Wits University.
