Leadership Courage: Creating A Culture Where People Feel Safe To Take Risks | New culture learning | Scoop.it
The human ingenuity within any organisation are it's greatest competitive advantage. Yet according to the latest statistics, over half of todays workers are disengaged . When leaders are committed and actively working to engage, inspire and embolden – they unleash untapped potential and raise the bar not just on productivity, but on the value their organization contributes to all stakeholders.

I've been reading "Real Influence" by Robert Ullman and John Goulston (http://www.amazon.ca/Real-Influence-Persuade-Without-Pushing/dp/081442015X), and they talk about the importance of connecting authentically.  In Real Influence, Ullman and Goulston refer to this authenticity as "Connected Influence".

"...Human ingenuity within any organization is it's greatest competitive advantage". This quote alone made me scoop this resource. How do we tap into the resource that is our staff? Engaging with them in the classroom and in the hallways to build communication capacity is important. Inspiring staff to take risks is a tricky enterprise - leaders must value this sort of behavior. This means that attempts which result in failure must be cherished, not scrutinized as they often tend to be.

Everyone is talking about storytelling: We talk about storytelling. You talk about storytelling. Storytelling gets people excited, it’s relatable, and it’s a successful marketing strategy across the board. We recently published a post explaining why storytelling works in general (if you missed it, check it out here), and we wanted take it up a notch and look at how storytelling is working in B2B and SaaS industries, where past marketing tactics were mathematical, calculated, and much less human than storytelling.

The Best And Worst Branding Of 2014

The Best And Worst Branding Of 2014 | New culture learning | Scoop.it

Great branding is more than a logo. It’s more than a list of acceptable fonts, too, or even some 100-page PDF containing everything from measurements on proper margins to deep verb-subject-adjective explorations on writing the proper "voice." Great branding is really the DNA of product or company, manifested through various media in ways that the public can recognize and understand.

With that in mind, above is a collection of our biggest branding stories of 2014. It’s not just a highlight reel of great branding. You’ll see some of that, of course, but you’ll also see some of the worst branding of 2014, too, along with essays on branding from some of the best names in the business....

Interesting Infographics: The Content Marketing Hierarchy of Needs | CustomerThink

Interesting Infographics: The Content Marketing Hierarchy of Needs | CustomerThink | New culture learning | Scoop.it
Have you ever heard of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs? It’s a useful concept for sales and marketing to create better connections and relationships with prospects and clients. Abraham Maslow wrote a paper in 1943, “A Theory of Human Motivation” and subsequent book, Motivation and Personality, where he summarized the 5 needs most people search for. The more basic needs are represented at the bottom of the pyramid.

Contently has applied this concept to content marketing which you can read below. It’s a more strategic approach to creating your content to better connect with readers. I think for each layer, we can add other elements depending on your target market.  How are you or will you incorporate Maslow’s Hierarch of Needs into your content?

I chose this resource because I like the implications of the title. A manufacturing plant's ultimate product is whatever rolls off the end of the production line. In education, learning is the ultimate product, but conceptual understanding is not tangibly apparent without a "product" that we can see or recognize. What evidence that students are producing suggests that they understand? Also, i like the implication that substantial and worthwhile work results in learning for both the student AND the teacher.

How to Write a Good Vision Statement

How to Write a Good Vision Statement | New culture learning | Scoop.it

Strategic planning is much easier than many people realise.  If you have an intimate knowledge of your business and are able to think pragmatically about your strengths and weaknesses, you should be able to create a strategic plan fairly easily.

rodrick rajive lal's curator insight, January 15, 2015 1:48 AM

Strategic planning is of great importance in the classroom too. Both teachers and students need to plan their work. With the teacher it is about planning for the whole year, and for the student it could be about planning for his or her research paper for the term. In all cases, planning continues to be a factor that can spell success or failure! While, no doubt this article is aimed at the business world, I see its relevance in Education too!

Darilyn Evans's curator insight, January 15, 2015 3:24 AM

A first step in benefits realisation is being sure of what we are trying to achieve.  This article is useful in giving a step-by-step process for creating a strategic vision that doesn't end up as some generic, jargon-filled statement that is uninspiring to staff and clients alike.

Elías Manuel Sánchez Castañeda's curator insight, January 15, 2015 3:40 PM

Strategic planning must give three products:
1. Address: Define which should be directed towards the organization (Vision, Vision and Values).
2. Focus: In what ways the organization (objectives and goals) will concentrate.
3. Alignment: Align all resources (financial, material and human) of the company.

Despite the surging stream of head-desk moments discussed on TV or about TV, creativity still thrived in 2014. Two funny ladies from the Internet made a Comedy Central series and proved that a show about being young in New York could still get people talking. And in the perfect culmination of entertainment news colliding with world news in a positive way, a sitting president appeared on Zach Galifianakis and Scott Aukerman's web series.
