ERA free online module in nephrotic syndrome

ERA free online module in nephrotic syndrome | New to Nephrology | Scoop.it
EOS's insight:

The ERA are offering a free online module on the basic pathophysiology of nephrotic syndrome. It is easy to follow  and come with a small amount of self assessment. Given this is an important clinical syndrome caused by many disease processes and pathological lesions, its important for students to grasp whats going on at the glomerular basement membrane level.

You should be all finished within an hour, and you even get a nice CME cert you can stick into your portfolio.

120 is plenty. Twitter and Nephrology

120 is plenty. Twitter and Nephrology | New to Nephrology | Scoop.it

120

EOS's insight:

I recently discovered the simple pleasure that is twitter and renal medicine. Quite aside from the fact that I just won a Nephrology mug, there is much to be said about using twitter to stay abreast of developments.

Lets face it, Nephrology can be heavy going, with dense textbooks and theory laden papers. By following a few select accounts, you can have single sentance headlines that can feed you simple factoids and triva, or breaking RCT results.

The bite sized nature of the tweets makes them easy to digest and assimilate, and there is an ever growing community of high quality content providers. Some I have discovered include:

https://twitter.com/ASNKidney

https://twitter.com/nephondemand

https://twitter.com/UKidney

https://twitter.com/RenalFellowNtwk

https://twitter.com/NephJC

https://twitter.com/kidney_boy

Any many others which can be found through the comments and followers of these accounts.

Take a look. Long live efficiency .

Precious Bodily Fluids discusses new Hyponatremia guidelines

Precious Bodily Fluids discusses new Hyponatremia guidelines | New to Nephrology | Scoop.it
EOS's insight:

The original guidelines is core reading for any physician, but particularly those learning nephrology. The first few pages provide an excellent overview of the interaction between total body water, serum osm, circulating volume and ADH, and go a long way towards clearing up what can be a headache to understand. Essential reading.

PBF's critique is very interesting, and he makes the important point that its as important to appraise guidelines as it is to appraise basic science papers.
